Filter Marking Pens

Does anyone know where they sell pens that can be used to mark filters with the date and hour it was changed? I tried a Sharpie, but it rubs off.

I've used sharpies and never had a problem i always mark mine on the bottom.. but they do have paint pens for marking on metal etc.. i'd try marking with a sharpie on a postion where there is less change of it rubbing off..

Brian and I use Markall Paint Markers to mark our filters with the date and hours. They will stand up to pressure washing, degreasing and just about everything else. Enco Products at www.use-enco.com lists them on page 387 of their master catalog. They come in all colors but we use white: 825-8825 for dark bodied filters and yellow: 825-8830 for light bodied filters. Enco's price is: $3.11 each.

As a note, I purchase quite a few items from Enco for my machine shop and they have exceptionally fast delivery and are always very courteous.

I just take a nail and scratch the information.
Rust sets in and it's quite readabe.
That's a trick my father showed me years ago.
He never trusted mechanics. Would always
scratch the date and milage on a new filter then check

i use a paint pen or just scratch the filter witha sharp object to denote the date.

Much easier to look in the book than crawl under the machine to look at the filter! Now if I wasn't doing my own maintenance, that would be a different story. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I have a label maker in my tool chest. When I service a piece of equipment, I make a label of the hours to the next service. Then I place the label on the dash by the guages where it is easily visible. The plastic labels won't deteriorate with moisture and if you clean the area of application, they will not come off.

I keep a log book too. Guess I'm a 'suspenders and belt' kind of guy. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif The log book stays in the house. I wanted to continue what the dealer was doing for those times they come out to service the tractor.
