FIAT SpA- Parent of CNH-Major Financial Trouble...

From my understandings, CNH is close to making money. They have sunk a lot of money into new products and combining both Case-IH and NH lines into one common platform. If Fiat would rid themselves of Fiat's auto problem which is their main problem they would help themselves considerably. The problem is they won't. The owners have a thing for their auto division and don't want to part with it so they would rather put their entire company into the poor house to support their hobby company. Sad /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

As for Agco buying CNH, never would happen. Agco would never be allowed to because it would make them too big and would leave two major companies to compete against themselves. CNH would most likely sell off their plants and each plant carries a line so their product lines would be sold off like when NH had to sell the Versatile/Genesis plant to Buhler. Of course if it did happen I would not be surprised to see John Buhler buy up one or two of CNH's other lines to give him more tractors for the market and make him a larger player. Agco would buy the Steiger plant to give them a decent 4wd tractor and John Deere would buy their Boomer line to give themselves a decent compact /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif (that was a joke so don't start flaming me /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif) /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

AGCO is a very large company (as you are well aware) they could do it if anyone could.

No doubt someone will buy CNH,and I like the New Holland and Case products,as for John Deeres problems they had some problems in the 1980's and they were turned around by good management,CNH can only wish they were 1/2 the company John Deere is..a 164 year old company,The John Deere name and logo is recognized more than any other company around the world except Coca Cola and possibly Shell Oil.I am not knocking New Holland or Case products, but if John Deere sinks there will be a lot of others going down with it.1986 was and 1987 were tough years for John Deere a net loss of $99 million in 1987, 1988 Deere profits soar 30 % and sales exceed $315 million.
I am not saying anything bad about New Holland or Case Tractors,it is the management that seems to be stumbling.

Trade commisions would never allow Agco to buy CNH. If Agco bought any parts of it they would be forced to sell off parts of themselves. Just as Case and NH had to sell of parts of themselves when they merged to prevent them from being too big.

Do you mean AGCO and Deere? I suspect some of the asian companies might suddenly step up and start competing for the larger tractors and machinery. Is there an orange company out there just waiting to get a foot in the door? I just think that if the asian market can be so successful in competing in the construction equipment market, they could also get into big Ag equipment too.

One of the biggest "shrinking markets" has been the military aircraft market. There used to be five or six major competitors, but now there are really only two. The necessities of the market can make some strange "bed-fellows." /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I would agree that John Deere is the most recognised tractor. But being the most recognised mean you sell the most tractors?? Not contradicting anyone here, I just need to know. In the area I am from, John Deere is very common. But if you go to where my father n law lives and you won't find a John Deere. They are very big on Case IH there. In the HVAC industry which I am in the second largest manufacture of air conditioners is a name that no one has ever heard of. So my question is, Does John Deere sell the most tractors??

If anyone out there knows please let me know. I am sure one could find the gross sales of each manufacturer.

I could not answer that.... /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gifOver all they sell a lot of construction equipment etc (nothing new there),but Kubota sells lots of very nice tractors etc.I think the on board experts here would be able to answer that question.

In the farm machinery business John Deere outsells all the others in the United States. Word wide CNH out sells all the other manufacturers in the tractor business.
