Fertilizer Price Check - Ammonium Sulfate

Hey all,

I'd just like to get a quick check on fertilizer prices for dry Ammonium Sulfate (21-0-0). I was just quoted $435/ton for bulk from my local feed store. I pick-up using their trailer, spread on my field, and return the trailer. Anybody else paying those sorts of prices for their fertilizer? At this rate I'm putting $3 of fertilizer in every bale!

not sure about now, but in march/April, Urea (46-0-0) was about 700 a ton

so that sounds right to me. (400/ton for 21-0-0)

A customer of mine was Quoted $1200 for aton of 30-11-11 delivered in a fertlizer buggy. I could buy bagged for $800 a ton.

This month I have bought liquid 32-0-0 and 46-0-0. The 32 was 445 a ton and the 46 was 455. I go to different places for each of them. I paid 560 a ton last month at a place real close to us for 46 and I won't be going back there anytime soon.

Now I have to go find a place that has dry fertilizer for my alfalfa field. I'm glad it's only 2 acres.

For that 32 on my bermuda pasture at 200 pounds per acre it's costing me about 1.11 per bale right now. I just wish the wind would slow down so I could start irrigating it. I sprayed 2 nights ago and made one run of pipe with the big gun and ten the wind started up. It's been between 30 and 50 mph for nearly 2 days now. I still have 5 more settings for that pipe to water that fertilizer in.

I wonder if the liquid is a better deal (per Nitrogen atomic weight) than the dry? WTA, it seems like you are paying less than me, since you are paying about the same amount per ton for the final fertilizer weight but are getting more nitrogen per ton (36 and 41 vs 21).

Sounds like I'm not too far off though. I like working with this guy, he is local and convenient, so as long as his prices aren't more than $30-50 off the going rate, I don't mind...

Here in Sw MS and SE LA its around 900 ton. No way you can buy that and diesel and come out ahead.

Now the chicken farmers around this area are cashing in on their litter. They are charging around 40 to 50 dollars ton. And you only get it when its convient to them not when you need it.

I just put some liquid fert and it ended up being $4200.00 for just under 45 acres of grapes. This was early May .....

And no, it's not wine grapes...... wish it was, might be worth more. LOL.

The soil analysis says that my hayfield needs 30 lb/acre nitrogen, 230 lb/acre phosphorus and 110 lb/acre potassium. Sulfur is OK.

Anyone got current prices on phosphorus and potassium fertilizers?
