Ferguson TO-20 Throttle Friction Disk

I've messed with this many times over the years but have not found a suitable friction material for the throttle, and I'm tired of it not holding a speed. I've tried cork gasket material which sort of worked for while, and I think I once tried rubber from and innertube. I just put in some high tech foam sheet we use at work, which seems kind of OK, but the foam makes it spring back when you try to set it and I don't expect it to last. Has anyone found something that works, or know what was originally there? I asked my wife to get a piece of thick leather next time she goes to the local tack shop - so far that seems like the most likely to work, but I'm concerned it may get polished over time.

try the boiled leather. chances are it was a rubberized cork or leather disc anyway.

easy to get tanned leather or rawhide up to 1/4" thick. you could also hit a cnh dealer and grab a 2.50$ 3pt quadrant friction disc and make that work.. it's a heavy ruberized cork disk.. holds up well doesn't roll or glaze.. probably last oh.. 50ys or so..

PS.. I'd be way surprised if a MF dealer couldn't get you the throttle friction disc anyway.. good parts support for those old tractors..

Thanks - that's good advice. The local MF dealer is pretty lame, but I guess I'll give them try - if not there is another tractor dealer nearby that I should at least ask.

if that fails get a hyd friction disc for a ford N and retrofit it.. it's like 2$ and heavy ruberized cork in an application that gets moved often.. like the throttle.. etc.

I use old round baler belting. As long as it isn't dry rotted, it has lasted a long time.

you can use heard leather too.. or cork gasket material.. but the correct disc is sooooo cheap.. no need to overthink it..
