FEL w/ toothbar or not???

Thanks for the tooth bar info. I really do not want to pay over 400 bucks locally for a toothbar!

I just ordered a 200 CX loader, does that have a bolt-on cutting edge? The reason I aks is that the Markham website indicates that their units are not compatible with buckets equipped with the bolt-on edges.

I have the 54" bucket on my 200cx. The cutting edge is welded on. JC

Thanks, then i could probably assume thqat it is also welded on the 61" bucket. I will ask a JD dealer before i buy the Markham tooth bar.

I thought I would need the tooth bar as I planned on digging and grading with the loader. I passed on it because of the price.

Now I don't think I need one. I have been amazed at how well I can dig and grade with the cutting edge even into some rather hard virgin soil. I tilt the bucket down and raise the tractor with it. Then a little forward motion with the weight of the tractor on the blade and a curl up with the bucket and it digs everything I have asked of it so far. I thought I would be using the box blade more for grading. However the FEL has been more useful so far for the heavy stuff.. However I wouldn't give up either as they are both very useful. I just don't know what I would use the tooth bar for and I wouldn't want to give up the smooth surface that the cutting edge leaves.

JD makes a bolt-on toothbar for a 61" bucket that fits the 200cx 61" bucket very nicely. It cost $300 installed by my dealer.

Interesting, the dealers out here did not offer that, they instead offered an ATI tooth bar. Oh well that tooth bar looks pretty good. Does it have replaceable teeth?

I have a JD toothbar.... its teeth are replaceable. It is extremely heavy duty... I can't imagine breaking a tooth or wearing one down so much that it needs replacing.

Yup, the teeth are replaceable. Neat piece, has been more useful than I had imagined.

Zeuspaul,

If you think the FEL is a good digger without the toothbar, you will be amazed at how much better it is with one. Think about commercial BH's and the last time you saw a bucket on one without teeth. There is a reason.
