I have been working on my terramite for a couple of weeks now and I just tested out the Hydraulics the other day after flushing the system, changing the oil and filters. The Front end loader seems to have plenty of strength, enough to pick up the rear end of my subaru, but the backhoe will not even left the rear of the backhoe. The guy who I got it off of said all the rear cylinders have been repacked except for the outriggers ( they will not hold pressure) all of the other will hold pressure. As far as i know it only has on main bypass valve, located on the front spool. When i put the backhoe under load you can hear the main valve kick in. I am going to get a hyro gauge and do some testing as soon as the weather breaks. Here is a video showing what it is doing. Any pointers or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Man that was a of of crap that came out of the oil tank! Next time try some diesel fuel or kerosene. They will cut threw that crud better than water and dish soap. It may take a few flushings to get it all out. As far as the backhoe problem, sounds to me like the relieve valve is not working properly, or it isn't set high enough. Anytime you have a power problem with hydraulics, it has to do with the pressure of the system. Your only guessing without a pressure gauge. I would put a tee on the hydraulic pump and install a pressure gauge. Test the loader and the hoe and see what kind of pressures your running. Generally every valve on a system like that has its own relieve valve. Do you have a schematic of the hydraulic system for it? That would help greatly at trouble shooting.

You did not say if your hyd system was open center or closed center.
If it is open center hyd system, then the fluid is flowing through all valves when the engine is running.
All valves should have a relief valve.
If you put a hyd gage as the other poster suggested, you will see the pressure developed by that valves hyd circuit.
So if your loader is the first valve in the system, it will set the relief for the machine.
I would suspect the backhoe, but it is loading down the engine, so it appears that the hyd system is working against a good load.
If the backhoe relief is at specs, then the valve is doing it's job. Perhaps there is some back pressure on the backhoe valve, decreasing the pressure potential.
I would suggest setting all the relief the same.
You might check all the mechanical parts on the backhoe such as the pins for binding.
Let us know the relief pressure for each valve.
I don't believe I would be flushing with water/dawn as you might have some cavities that might hold a pint of waste/dawn mix.
Diesel and alcohol would be the preferred mix.

Thanks guys for the response, I don't have a lot of experience with hydraulics I used to help a friend of mine at his dad hydraulic shop rebuild cylinders but that was back in high school. I was very careful when flushing the tank to make sure all the water was gone before refiling. I used a scope camera to check the inside of the tanks for any remaining moisture. The only place were i could find a gauge locally wanted $55 for it, but a buddy of mine who own a natural gas company said he is a 3000 psi 1/4 npt that i could use. Its not oil filled but i don't think that should matter. It will just bounce a little. I am not real sure if its an open or closed system, the return line to the tank comes from the pump. so I am thinking it is a closed one. I can do a video to show the pump, valves etc if that would help. I am pretty sure my rear spool has some problems because my stab jacks will drift all the way to the ground when the machine is shut off or running. Thanks again for every ones help!!!!

Remove a return line and see if there is continuous flow. If continuous flow, then it is open center hyd system.
A closed center valve only uses fluid when a cyl/motor is actuated.

Put both hoses from that valve in a clean bucket and only run the engine briefly.

Well I got my gauge but its about 12 deg outside, snowing and we have wind gusts up to 30 mph so i will not be able to check my pressure today, but I did go down and figure out what kind of system I have. My hydraulic system is an open system. Here is a short video showing my system, all the lines, spools and valves. Hopefully this will give a better visualization of my backhoes hydro system.
