Has anyone perfected a setup for removing /reinstalling their FEL?? Some sort of rack or jig that you use to hold it in place after unfastening?

Just bought a new 3940 with FEL and have ample room in my shop to hang/floor the FEL. Not that I plan to take it off very often, but in the event that I do, I want to have a plan rather than learning the hard way (my normal method:D).

I would think that getting it free is easy, but having things propely lined up for the reinstall might be a bit tricky.

:thumbsup:Your fel has support arms, don't need to hang it.If you have a solid;LEVEL area to land it,it is simple.Very easy to do,first time is a little daunting.Read your manual.

birdman,

Have a 30x60 concrete floored shop, so solid and level is not a problem. I wanted to be sure there were no 'gotchas' that the owner's manual didn't cover...

Thanks.

It is really and easy job to dismount or mount, maybe 5 minutes each. Make sure your lines do not have any pressure in them when installing or removing, or they will be hard to seperate. Once took my loader off on a cool night and let sit outside. Next day was warm and sunny, could not get hydraulic connectors to mate because sun had raised pressure in loader lines, had to bleed off pressure. FEL has stands you know. Philip.

I have struggled with my FEL since day one and I will tell you level is the key for both the FEL and tractor. If one is off by just a few degrees it will make you say not so nice things as you try and hook up. Keep both level to each other and it will hook up easily. Un hooking is as easy as dropping the legs on the loader, pulling the pins, depressurizing the hydraulic lines and unhooking the lines. It gets easier the more you do it, first time took me 30 min for hooking up now it takes me 5 min. Unhooking was always a breeze.

No problem, please let us know how it goes and what worked for you cause what works for some might not work for others and it's good to know all the techniques that do work.

It took me about 20 minutes the first time I took the FEL off my BX. It now takes me 3 minutes. It just takes a little practice.

I always remove the FEL outside (and remove it and install it quite often).

But if I had to remove it inside, I would place something on the floor so the oil that drip when the connectors are unpluged don't do a mess.

My dealer showed me how to do it during delivery. I did it myself twice soon thereafter. Piece of cake. Since then I leave it on all the time. The need for it just come up too often.

Watch this a few times, it works the same way on all of them and I can take one off any of my tractors in just a few minutes on a flat surface. If I don't have a flat surface, I use boards for shims.

I took mine off today for the first time. I have a drag I wanted to pull on the driveway and haven't gotten the tired filled with Rim Guard yet so I didn't want the extra weight. I bet it took less than 3 minutes. The only thing I would do differntly would be to use an old rage to wrap around the quick disconnects to keep what little oil that came out from making my hand a little slippery. I think it took longer to wash my hands afterwards.

Just make sure you releave all the pressure on the loaded by shutting off the engine and moving the lever all four directions. Otherwise the pressure will make for a hard time disconnecting the hoses and possibly leave the hoses on the FEL with pressure in them making it hard to connect.

The biggest challenge I have is finding a place to put the loader where it won't be in my way 10 minutes later. There's no moving it easily without the tractor.

I took my loader off my L 3000 all the time for a long time. It was always in the way when I used the tractor to mow with. I ended up putting a quick detach for the loader bucket and now rarely ever have the need to remove it. Now I just pull 2 pins from the loader bucket and set it off and away I go.

I pulled my FEL off my L2650 for the first time Friday.

It looked easy in the video. What I didn't count on was when I backed up my tractor, the pivot arms were so low that the front ag tires rubbed on them, even though I was maxed out on the length of the FEL stands for maximum height. I was afraid it would pop my tires.

It tool a bit of wiggling, that's for sure!

All good answers here...
My only contribution is removing and re-installing the loader (or any other implement) isn't a race. If it takes you time to read the manual and go step-by-step, so be it!
You'll get faster as you do it more often...but the first time is to do the task safely and correctly (sort of like losing your virginity).

I couldn't agree more on both counts.

For me level is the key. Kept the loader on for a year once rather than take it off. Now that I have a level cement floor it is off and on in no time at all.
