Here is my problem
New 790 with 300 FEL I lift a 300LB pallot but am not able to tilt it back. Brought it back to JD and they cleaned the screen, replaced the return hose, checked the pressure (2100lbs), checked the flow (550). Everything checks out but it has no strength. Any thoughts? I posted this earlier, but couldn't track it down so I appoligies.

Thanks

The farther things are out front the harder it is to lift. So, if you have add-on forks that go on the bucket, you are out there a good ways. I don't remember the lift capacity of that loader.

Properly ballasted, the 300/790 lifts 547lbs. That is sand in the bucket. less weight of the bucket. If using clamp on forks, subtract the weight of the forks. then factor for leverage of load 33% (or more)

Loader capability has never been the 790's strong suit.

"Properly ballasted, the 300/790 lifts 547lbs"

That really sounds low. Where did you get those specs?

As a caveat...the 419 loader (used before the 300 came into play) was dunned because it had less capacity then the #70 loader it replaced. Now what folks overlooked is the 419 lifted almost 12" higher then the #70. Even then, the 419 had a capacity of 610# at maximum height.

A more realistic capacity is what one can lift to 4 or 5 feet (approximately 1.5 meters) unless you plan on loading dump trucks.

I am thinking Stretche's issue may not be lift so much as a lack of rear ballast (traction).

Just heard back from the dealer and he must be a tractor by net reader. He quoted you exactly, that is the limit. I seen in other threads the shim solution to increase pressure, will that improve things?

Thanks

Yes and no.

The 790 is a small machine. A real handy size. Shimming will increase its lift force, but do nothing for the wheelbase.

And I doubt that your dealer would support your doing it.

I know you don't want to hear this, but for your application, you really need at least a 3x20.

Wheelbase, traction is not the issue. My problem is lifting and curling (tilting) the bucket back. I have added forks, but they are the JD quick connect type which replace the bucket.

Can you post a link to the data source you used for capacity?

Thanks

Again, it is in the JD FAQ:

300 Sales guide

The whole tractor and loader is a system. Shimming the hydraulics can't overcome other limitations. But a good dealer can help you the most.
