Hi, I have a 1993 B7100 HST with a Kubota FEL(not sur of number) The joystick works fine raising and lowering, but when you curl the bucket either way, the stick will not center on it's own. Broken spring??? What do yall think. Any help would be greatly appreciated..

Operator error? Leave a Fireman locked in a room with two bowling balls, come back an hour later and one will be missing and the other broken.... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

A local 43 brother....

If it doesn't have ice in the backend of the spool, I would say to first check to make sure everything is lined up. If it has been bent even a little, it would be too much for that linkage. Second, lube it up good with some spray grease.

On my B7100 I was starting to have problems controlling the the bucket. Replacement of the joystick linkages fixed all the problems.

Hiya Steve, how goes it?

Here's a link Lost Float Position On B7510 that might help. (I know it's not your same exact problem, but it might shed some light on the subject).

The poster was having a problem with the detent mechanism itself (pictures are included), but Egon is probably on to something regarding messed up linkages. There might be some springs in there somewhere too - dunno, I've never really studied mine.

And hats off to you, Ryan and all you other brave men and women who keep us all safe. I have the utmost respect for firefighters, EMT's and police officers, and I actually envy you for the tremendous "job satisfaction" that you must all have.

And Ryan, I have to disagree with you about the bowling balls. I don't see how a firefighter could actually lose one. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

John,
Thanks for the support, our support has always been good, but of course the 343 brother we lost in 9-11 really made people take notice.

As for losing the ball, easily done, not as easy as breaking the other though.... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Hi all,

Just wanted to post an update to my problem. I took the covers off on the end of the pistons, looked goo, little water in the big one, but not the one that was affected. Regreassed the springs, and put back together, still not working right. I took the linkage apart, and greased all the moving points, and bored out where the big anchor goes into the body, it works great, just to much rust in that area.

Thanks for all the posts...

I offered a remedy in another thread a while ago. This is what we do with our hydraulics on our roll off trailers and have done on my ag equipment.

Takle the covers off the end of the actuation end (where the cable or linkage actuates the internal pistons or valves) and, drill a small hole so the water/condensation can drain out. Obviously, the hole has to face downward. 1\64" is plenty. Clean the innards, liberally grease everything with a good grade synthetic grease like Lubriplate and button it up. Even if you don't actually spray water on the valve body, the heating and cooling from use will cause internal condensation and corrosion.

Mine was sure grungy and rusty inside. Looked like rusty, crunchy mayonaise in there. Carb cleaner, hole on bottom, compressed air and new lube (spray lithium) cleared the problem up right quick.

Sounds just like my belly-button. Maybe I'll try the carb-clean and compressed air - thanks! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Mike:

Nuthi'n like a satisfied customer.

For the life of me, I can't figure out why a small drain hole isn't in every actuator body other than planned obsolence.

My roll-off trailer got so bad I broke the handlever right off and the company had to get another one.

You are right. Dealer told me that years ago, Kubota started putting holes in there, then quit for some reason. Now, some are coming thru with holes again. Seems like some new bean counter comes along every once in a while and says "why are we doing that?? Extra cost! Stop it and we'll save money!" No one remembers what the hole was for, so they quit putting it in there till problems occur, and another engineer says "you know, if we put a little hole there, this wouldn't happen". Here we go again.
