FEL hay spear

When I built my quick connect frame I put a 2" receiver in the upright so I could attach the hay spear after I drop bucket or forks off. I also store it in the top tube. I used an old axle shaft when I built it and welded it in a hitch tube. I broke it a few times and bent it and decided I needed to build another one . I plundered thru my scrap pile and did not find anything suitable until I seen a fork lift fork. It's 4" wide so I split it in half then put it back together with taper in. It was a grunt over 2" wide so I had to grind it down some but it's a perfect fit now. I moved a dozen bales today and it works perfect .

It looks nice and looks easy to detach. Its hard to find anything stronger than forklift forks.

I am also interested in your quick connect frame. Do you have a build thread for it? Did you fab hooks on your attachments for the frame or buy attachments with factory built hooks?

I built it out of 4" tube , I measured a John Deere bucket to get spacing and the hooks on the attachments are made out of cargo strap hooks and reinforced with 4" X 1/4 flat stock , I posted pics of the build a few years ago . I really like being able to stick prong in and move a few bales and pull a couple pins and put it back in top tube when I'm done. When I'm doing hay I have 2 1" x 12" grade 8 bolts sharpened that I screw into the bottom corners.

I made a spear that I attached to the FEL bucket. Easy on easy off. I don't move hay anymore so it sits in the barn. Maybe some day I will get to use it again. Or repurpose it.
