It ended up being a loose Positive battery cable... imagine that,, lol. Easy fix. Running good still, blew a coolant line, but easy fix, no harm done. Did a good job making a mess out of part of my yard this weekend.. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!

Was actually a loose battery cable.. imagine that... Thing still needs some TLC: new coolant hoses, some electrical repairs, new lights,, but I have plenty of time to work on it. I'm just glad its usable now.

Funny as I was going to suggest dirt and grime as the culprit but U found it first.
Either the oil filter (screen) is defective or dirt got into the system when the previous owner changed the valve.
Most tractors have a filter screen in the sump at the pickup location. I'd check that out and if U have a filter, change it.
Dirt and grit is mortal to pumps and you now know how it affects valves.
I have known of intake filters (screens) to be perforated or torn when grime clogs them and the powerful pump suction tears them.*

*when doing my 500 hr service I discovered my screen to be ripped. Being brass I simply soldered a repair.

Although the HR meter on this tractor says " 49" I have this strange feeling it has ALOT more than 49 hours on it. Either way it needs all the filters changed, an oil change, and a bucket load of TLC! Now that the hydraulics are working correctly, the rest of it can come when I have time, which seems to be at a premium these days. I knew what I was getting into, and i'm not regretting anything....... yet...
