Hello All. My B7800 has 40 hours and I've encountered a minor problem, but it is annoying.

When I lower my FEL the control stick sticks in the lower position and requires me to lightly pull up on it to get it back to the neutral position. It doesn't require alot of force to get it back to neutral and is normal going to lower with the exception of a minor click / clunk which is felt in the control when returning to normal. All the other positions are fine and smooth.

I took the cover off the linkage and nothing is evident. The hanging up is occuring inside the valve block. Anyone else experience this? Any ideas are appreciated.

Still love the B7800.

Thanks in Advance, Frank D. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Now I don't know for sure, but it sounds as if you're pushing the stick too far forward and going into the "float" mode. There is a detent, or stop, for normal lowering of the FEL, and when you push past that detent, it's in the float mode and the stick is supposed to stay there until you pull it back.

I had the EXACT problem with my B7500. You just have to WD-40 the heck out of the ball connection that goes into the valve. It is not the valve that is giving you the problem it is that ball.
WD-40 it and just keep moving it around. Spray more oil and work it. It took me awhile but eventually it will free itself.
Let me know how you make out.

I believe it is as Bird says, you've discovered the float position!! If you push your lever forward slowly you'll have downward pressure until you pass that detent position on your control lever. once past it the hydraulics will "collapse".It's very handy once you get used to it

Yes I agree. I missread and thought he was talking about a BH. Sorry for the confusion.

Well Guys I guess I should just read the little picture on the side of the FEL. Right there it says it is the "Float" /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif position. I just never pushed the stick that far forward before. Thanks for the help. Just a case of operator error, all is fine with the 7800.

OK can you tell me when you would use the Float position?

Thanks Again, Newbie Frank D.

I used the float position mostly with the bucket tilted forward to back drag at times to smooth dirt. I've seen others, such as street crews, who used it driving forward with the bucket level to clean sand, dirt, or other debris off paved roads. You can also use it to set the bucket on the ground if you want to be sure it's all the way down on the ground without having any down pressure on it. You'll find your own uses for it after awhile.
