Favorite sayings (minus religion, politics)

Most of the favorite sayings thread is great, but....some interject their view of religion or politics which is OK but possibly a bit more germane to forums on such topics and not one on tractors/country living. So, try these out:

"Common sense is not so common." usually attributed to Mark Twain but actually from Voltaire (1994-1778), i.e., idiots have been around for a long time

"Any idiot can face a crisis. It's the day to day living that wears you out." A Chekov (1860-1904) yup, sure does

"In the land of the blind, a one-eyed man is king." D Erasmus (1466-1536) reminds me of the informed on this forum who know tractor stuff inside and out, and the rest of us plead for advice

"Always do sober what you said you'd do drunk. That will teach you to keep your mouth shut." E Hemingway (1899-1961) nuff said....

The original thread was so long when I joined this forum I never got around to thoroughly checking it out so these have probably already been posted. Still, they're three of my favorites:

I used to use this saying when referring to my ex-sister in law, but I've discovered in the years since that there are a bunch of folks that fall into the same category.
