The things have changed since Farmtrac assets were sold to Montana.Textron is getting out of the business,LS is coming directly.Where does it leave the dealers and the floor plan tractors of Farmtrac and I think even all companies like Montana will need a new floor plan financer.
Looks like things are being played more in compony board rooms than in the markets.

New way of doing business----CASH ON THE BARREL HEAD!!! no credit no floor plan----one tractor on the lot to sale--- the others at the factory awaiting cash payment what a "Great" way to do business-----Not many tractor dealers left in a situation like that----those with the gold make the rules????? Reckon how many car dealers can make it on that kind of model????----only those with a barrel full of money-----Messick etc???? Thank goodness for used tractors!!!!!!

Wishing all a "Eventless" New Year on The Farmtrac front. Montana,LS,Escorts,Textron have not come with any credible plan.Textron has $50mil involved,LS has over 13 mil involved,Dealers and customers have around 5 mil involved and Now Montana has 14mil+ involved.Huge money .Everyone thinks that they can fool dealers and customers by offering tractors at discount.Would want your comments.I think the dealers/customers will take the offer.

Escorts shuts down US tractor unit-India Business-Business-The Times of India

This article (Nov 7, 2008) says that Escorts shut down Farmtrac, NA due to continuing weakness in the economy. If they didn't own it how did they shut it down?
I was actually looking for the article mentioning Escorts AgriMachinery that we found a while back the one that had an office in New York that turned out to be a pay phone in a restaurant near Radio City music Hall. I thought the newbys would enjoy that one!
Longtrman
Longtrman, RNF et al,

Yes, the article could have been run in the comics instead of the Times of India business section -- it was that ficticious.

Looks like I'll continue to accumulate adversaries in the new year, as the rebuttal below was sent to the TOA editor. Betchya a couple of those little blue yard ornaments that he/she sits on my recant in hopes of squelching it.

In that sense, TBN.com has been a source of salvation -- a medium for FNA retailers, customers and others share information without the suppression or filtering that can occur in mainstream news outlets.

***
Dear editor,

An accuracy recheck is in order for your Nov. 7 article "Escorts shuts down US tractor unit."

Although TNN staff writer Pankaj Doval would've been correct to attribute the global downturn as a contributor to US tractor firm Farmtrac North America, there are larger reasons for it's demise -- ones occurring long before the fuel cost crunch became an ominous factor in 2008.

According to court documents, the firm had failed to pay creditors beginning in 2006. Although the firm claimed record first-quarter profits that year, it amassed nearly $52 million in unpaid bills during an 18 month span ending mid-January 2008.

North Carolina State superior court assigned local attorney Jim Marrow as Receiver by late February. The facility was kept open with a minimally-staffed volunteer work crew through April. Marrow's communication attempts to Escorts were not returned for months and Marrow said that he nor any workers were appraised of the company's status.

"Their values are different," Marrow said of the slow Escorts response. "They operate at a different pace than businesses do here (in the U.S.)."

FNA executives with ties to Escorts and homeland India quickly vacated the Tarboro-based national headquarters and assembly facility. President Pranab Ghosal and marketing head Shenu Agarwal were unavailable for in-person interviews by Feb. 1.

Farmtrac front office personnel stated the pair had returned to the middle-east.

Escorts declined a U.S.-based July meeting between FNA retailers and financier Textron Financial in favor of a London, England venue. FNA dealers hoped to restore a pipeline of OEM tractor parts -- one that dried up due to Farmtrac company debt and Escorts abandonment of retailers. At the summer meeting, Escorts leaders admitted quelling "all of the bad press we've been getting" was a motivator for their attendance.

A single load of Escorts-promised parts arrived only three weeks ago at a U.S port.

So is there more parts on the way to the USA for dealers?? Does anyone know the future of parts being avilable for the Escort Tractors here in the US???

NC419N,

Since the Receiver nor the FNA retailers had no funds to buy parts and Escorts first resurfacing since Jan. 2008 was the summer meeting, the shipment was likely paid for by Textron. Smart money says they'll attempt to generate the maximum leverage with their purchase.

What modalities will that entail? That'll be interesting to see.

In summation: FNA dealers be wary.

What is new on LS??.Last I heard was that they are firmly in Tarboro in a space owned by a co-company(some cable company purchased by LS).
And they are coming directly before this season.
So we will have Montana and LS cables selling the same tractors out of the same place.Or have they chosen to be in Tarboro with some other thoughts??

Re: Termination of Floorplan Financing

Dear Dealer Principal:

In recent months we have experienced unprecedented and turbulent changes in the
global financial markets. As a result of these negative economic conditions Textron
has made some difficult choices.

On December 22, 2008 Textron announced that it is beginning an orderly process to
exit all existing Textron
Financial Corporation ("Textron Financial") commerical finance businesses not
directly related to the manufactured products which currently includes E-Z-GO golf
cars, Jacobsen turf care products, Bell helicopters and Cessna aircraft.

It is therefore in this context that I must regretfully annOunce that after February
27, 2009 (the "Effective Date") Textron Financial's Large Ticket Division
will no longer provide wholesale financing to the Agriculture Equipment industry. As
a result, I must inform you that we a cancelling your credit facility with Textron
Financial as of the close of business on the Effective Date, and you must pay Textron
Financial your outstanding loans according to existing terms, conditions, rates and
maturities. For now, we will continue to review valid approvals issued or before the
Effective Date under dealers' discretionary credit facilities With Textron Financial
and fund appropriately until the earlier of (i) thirty (30) days after the date of a
valid approval or (ii) March 27, 2009, so long as both the dealer requesting funding
and the manufacturer or distributor requesting approvals from Textron Financial are
in good standing with Textron Financial.

Textron FinancIal reserves all of its rights and remedies at law or in equity, and
those provided under Customer's loan documents with Textron Financial and any related
guarantees (collectively, the "Documents"), until all amounts owed by
customer to Textron Financial ard paid in full in good funds. Nothing in this letter
is meant to, nor shall it, constitute a waiver, rescission or termination of all of
Textron Financial's rights or remedies contained in any Documents, including (but not
lImited to) Textron Financial's right to terminate all financing immediately in the
event that Customer is in default thereunder. Any delay or forbearanCe by Textron
Financial in the exercise of its rights as a result of any default under the
Documents will not operate as a waiver of those rights.

If you have any questions about these changes or require assistance with any other
matter, please contact your Textron Financial Large Ticket Division Account Manager
at 888-222-3836, or me directly.

We appreciate having had the opportunity to serve you and wish you continued
success.

Sincerely,

TEXTRON FINANCIAL CORPORATION
Michael R. Carson
Senior Vice President, General Manager

MessickFarmEqu, judging by the memos flowing across my desk I would be more worried about how you are going to finance Case products....................

How are the floor plan changes going to affect you?

Textron is the least of your worries.

Longtrman

Longtrman,

The Times of India has failed to respond to numerous e-mails, Web site postings and calls from me regarding their Nov. 7 news article on Farmtrac closing.

Not surprising -- and nothing short of gutless.

Jerking with this writer may have missed the "don't do" list Croce cited on "Don't mess around with Jim," but trust me, it'd behooves them cooperate.

Remember this: a thorn in the foot can render a lion helpless.
