farmtrac 535
I have a Farmtrac 535 that has a hole in the transmission case, with a cotter pin inserted in it. I found this when I noticed a leak from it, and when I checked the trans fluid it was empty. The parts manual and the repair manual show the cotter pin, but neither shows what it holds in place. I currently have the hole filled with gasket silicone so I can operate the tractor. Anyone know what this is all about?

The pin is there to hold the hole open, you are probably filling your clutch house with oil and ruin your clutch. Picture?

Yes the cotter key is there to rattle around to keep the hole clear. The hole is there so if the seal leaks it drips out and you can see it. If the hole was plugged the oil would fill up that space where your clutch is. You have a split in your future.
