JD 3320, 1947 Farmall Super A
Hello, this is my first post, I hope I'm in the right spot. I have a 1947 Farmall Super A, I'm in the process of replacing the freeze plug on the back side of the engine. I have the tractor split in half and the flywheel is off and the freeze plug is out (it was definetly the reason for the leak). After removing the freeze plug, I noticed a very large amount of crud in the engine, I've been removing it the best I can and I was wondering if anyone knows what it should look like in there? I did uncover a small hole that I have water flowing through now, but I don't know how far in to the engine this goes or if there are other small holes I should be looking for. This crud is hard stuff to remove and I don't want to do any damage.
Please help, Thank you

I have been into only a hand full of engines and that was many years ago. But what I did back then was to replace the freeze plug and forget about all the visible crud seen in there until you are ready to tare down the engine completely and boil the block.

Thanks for the info, I definitely don't want to tear down the engine at this point, I did however clean out a good amount of the crud that was in the engine, so I'm pretty happy with that.
Thanks again, Kurt
