Did you put a new 6 volt or 12 volt battery? Those tractors were set up on 6 volt systems. 12 volts has a tendacy to screw up the whole system.

yes and no.. and um.. no.

12v is fine on a machine that was setup for 6v..as long as you do everything needed to convert.

also.. in mid 1966 cubs went OEM factory 12v. not much changed except starter and genny windings and battery.. lamps.. etc.
