Farmall 400

This is a question for a friend. He has a Farmall 400 gas tractor. It seems to have no power but will idle ok and and starts right up. When going up hill or under load it will not make any power. The carb was cleaned with no visible signs of any clogged jets. Hope someone can help him out.

You didnt say if you checked the fuel flow from the tank to the carb ? Also was the float adjusted properly ? That could be a problem. In any event, I would ask this question over on Yesterdays Tractors on the Farmall forum. They have some great knowledge on that site.

I own two Farmalls but not the 400. Good luck !

Could be a couple of things, besides the carb itself. I'd check the governer first. Second, the distributor/coil setup, as sometimes the shaft driving the distributor can/does wear causing iexcess play causing it to vibrate under load and shutting down the spark....if it is, there is a fix....just a strange thought on old IH stuff
