I recently purchased a 1989 Toyota one ton dually. The truck is mechanically sound, no rust and had a 12 box which I removed. I am currently building a 9' flat bed. I am having a hard time finding any information about these trucks. The local dealer says they still sell all replacement parts but have little information. Even the model number is about ten digets long. Any information will be appreciated.

you've got ahold of a VERY rare duck. shares more incommon with the RV platform they made for only a few years.

check out YotaTech

youll find me there as Snap-on. I'm one of the "experts" for the 89-95 4runner and trucks.

Thank you for the information. I was told they quit building the trucks in 1996. I was inpressed with the condition and power of the truck. IS a leaking steering box common on this model truck?

stearing box? perhaps depends on use. the power stearing PUMPs are known to leak like a sive.... ive replaced the one in my truck twice, and the one on my 4runner was leaking also when i bought it (also replaced)

you talking about the stearing boxes, or the pumps? (theres a big diffrence)

the pumps are a crap shoot as i get mine from the local advance. Cheep rebuilds im shure but for a new or NAPA type rebuild your looking at even more $$.

Yes, I have taken several photograhs from the beginning of the project. I need to figure out how to reduce the file size to upload onto the site.

I believe they only made the trucks for a few years and stopped in 1996. The truck was mostly used for RV'S. Check Toyota Dolphin RV on the internet.

I have completed the modifications to the truck and will post some photographs as soon as I figure out how to reduce the file size. I am towing my mini track hoe with this truck and it handles the weight well. I have noticed what I believe is noisy valves. Is this normal with the Toyota V-6?

you need the photos hosted on the web someplace.

Immageshack, and photobucket are 2 common free places to upload images.

once that is done you post the link in (img) your link hear (/img) tags. (use brackets instead [])

or use the the little shortcut thigie at the top of the response window looks like
insertimage.gif

If you are running a Windows based program and the pics are on your hard drive. All you need to do is resize them to under 100K (usually a 640x480). Then when you type in a post or reply to one and want to add your pic scroll down to manage attachments and click on it. Locate your pic file using browse, when you find the pic you want click upload. The file will show up as an attachment then go to the submit reply box under the manage attachments and click. If you want to attach more than one pic click manage attachments again and upload another pic before you submit.

Gatorboy had sent me to MSN to get powertoys, a free download, which includes an image resizer, to post my pictures. It works fine, but I'm not so sure in retrospect that ther isn't already an image resizer in "my pictures" . Try right clicking on a selected photo, and see if "resize image" comes up. SIDEY
