Again this is for the Mitsubishi SL3/SL4 motor with Bosch injection, but the solenoid layout seems similar to what you have.
PastedGraphic-1.jpg Hope it helps

I'll get a pic to post later on the solenoid mounted. Its does have to be set right and where I have it now the engine starts and shuts off. You can actually screw the solenoid in while its running and see a change in the way the engine runs. With that said, today the solenoid stopped energizing again. It worked great for about 20 start ups. I think another relay is causing the problem . Aggravating!!

That wiring on your solenoid looks pretty bad, the black wire has no insulation in one spot, the connector doesn’t look good either. I suspect that is your problem.

I installed a new solenoid today. It worked for a little while. I can take the solenoid out and crank the tractor up then push on the solenoid stem and it will go in. When I shut the tractor off the stem pops back out like it should. Almost seems like it don't have enough voltage to pull the solenoid in.

It looks the same as what I have. I think I have some wiring issues. The plunger on the solenoid will go in if you put a little pressure on it while the engine is running. So it sounds like the wire that holds it in is ok but the wire that pulls the solenoid plunger in is the problem? I'm guessing on this....

That’s very possible, it takes all 12 volts to suck it back in. Have you checked your battery power?

I think you either have a bad wire, connection or the relay isn’t working all of the time. How is the connector on the tractor that the solenoid plugs into?

Like I said before.. & you probably already know this.. the sol. itself has 2 coils inside.. 1 pull & 1 hold..
It takes a lot of juice to PULL it in & very little to HOLD it. & they're all run off relays..
IF you can push the plunger IN while the tractor is running, it should be on the hold circuit.. either you don't have enough juice to hold it or the solenoid is bad.
TRY grounding the body of the solenoid on the engine block.. if I remember correctly it has to be grounded.. even tho it has a ground wire..
