Farm accidents: Low IQ levels or wrong choices

Maybe the farming industry has accidents because they are actually working as opposed to what the majority of the smooth hand population in this country experiences. I'm in the power industry and I can say with some degree of confidence that the accident rate in power plants is very likely higher than the farming industry.

One of my dads best friends died in a power plant accident. He was at a local forge, (still operating today!) one of the service doors to the power plant closed behind him locking him inside. Nobody knew he was locked inside. Back in those days, no cell phone. He died from heat exhaustion.

Yea, this is a ridiculously stupid statement by someone that has no clue about the intelligence of the farmers in this country. These are the same people that want to shut down all of the coal and nuclear power plants in the country. They need one day with those plants shut down and no farm supplies delivered to their door by Wal Mart or Uber Eats to see how dumb they are.

Most IQ tests are multiple guess and have little or nothing to do with somebody's knowledge or of their ability to sort things out.
I don't know about SAT tests today, but when I was in school 40 years ago they were also multiple guess, and about as indicative of somebody's knowledge as a fish's ability to climb trees.

The best way to determine the cause of accidents- aside from investigating them- is to talk to peer groups of the study subject. In this case I have seen several full and part time farmers tune in, yet what they said doesn't support what the thesis wants to believe.

I was up on top of the baler again today trying to fix a knotter issue. The property manager, about 30 years old, was there and asked if he could see what the knotters looked like. After he almost fell off climbing the ladder, he got up there to see what a marvel of engineering, but what a headache it is to diagnose and fix.
He couldn’t believe how intricate/complex it was.
