FAE Teeth/tools

Has anyone been able to mix chipper tools with double carbide tools ? Wish I could get a straight answer out of Cat but they truly just don't know. It would be nice to have some increased productivity.

I was told that it would cause balance issues. I'm running an FAE too.

I have the HM 415 and have chippers and carbides on. I couldn't get all of the vibration out, you can just feel it in the cab, probably have 200 hours on the head this way. It took several trys to get it acceptable. I'll try to find some pictures of the arrangement.

Thanks... That would be great. The local FAE distributor isn't very good. A friend has been trying to get a demo of the low flow head for over 2 months now. How much did you feel the green tools helped with production rates ?

I have Bobcat 60 frst head with mix double carbide and 10 Quadco chipper in the middle of the drum.
Work great without vibration

Is that a smooth drum style with staggered teeth ? Or paddle wheel style ?

The D tooth is supposed to be the same weight as the C tooth double carbide, I haven't weighed them but I will when I get a chance. The D's are way faster cutting than even the vipers were and very easy to change tips.

Do you know what the difference between the D cobra and D HM cobra is? Does the HM have carbide on one side?

Difference is the hardness and I think one has carbide spraying on it I just use the cheapest tips because no matter what's on it it's going to get smashed eventually.
