Factors to consider in choosing hydraulic fluid

After much research I have found the best crankcase oil and grease for the various fittings on my machine. Now I am wondering what I need to know about tractor fluid. To date I have been using whatever ASV sells.

I just go by the book.

I agree. find one that meets or exceeds the specs stated in your owners manual.. and then service at least are regularly as the manual states.. if in question about the oil.. pull a sample mid year and send it off and see how the oil is doing...

Typically its UTF, but check the manual.

Definitely tractor fluid. Motor oil and grease get a lot of attention but, except for keeping it clean, it appears tractor fluid is not that important.
