I have a 72x300 fabric building. There were 3, 100’ fabric cover sections. I’ve had 3 weather events in 8 years since it was built (2 happened in 2019 alone).

The manufacturer who is doing the repairs is converting my building to 20’ cover sections(2240 Sqft of fabric); one between each truss which should make the covers much stronger. They also upgraded the tension poles to 14 gauge 3.5” OD galvanized steel. (I’ll attach a photo of what happened to the old poles)

The old tension poles were connected together with a total of 300’ of tension poles down each side. This time they used a single pole with capped ends for each section. The tension ranchers are incorporated into the base of each truss that are 20’ apart so the ratchet straps are on the very ends of the poles.

The smaller sections should help a lot, but I’m still concerned about the ratchet straps slipping off and causing another cover failure. I’ve lost every ounce of trust I have in this company, so I’m seeking other opinions.

What do y’all think?

You would think they would have some sort of "lip" on those black caps. This would help keep the tension straps in place. My thoughts - when the wind blows the fabric will stretch/relax. This could allow the tension straps to slip off the black caps.

Glad I’m not the only one who thinks so. It wouldn’t worry me quite as much if they had bothered to actually bolt the skirt rail to the baseplates. They did a pretty crappy job over-all. It’s been a few days since I emailed the manufacturer a list of concerns and I still haven’t heard back from them.
