F935 Front Wheel and Axle Nut

Hi all, new to the forums and it looks like there is a lot of great information to be had ... anyway, I am working on a F935 but I don't have the service manual. I'm trying to remove one of the front wheels and I have a large (1.5") nut in my way. The docs I could find don't make any mention of the torque value I need to retighten this big nut to -- well, a JD page shows a nut this size would be some 725 lb-ft and I don't think I have a torque wrench big enough for that!

Any leads on the value or if this is even correct to get the wheel off or maybe a service manual to download?

Welcome to TBN!! As I recall from a F910 the wheel is held on by lug nuts, then the large nut for getting to the axle seals, etc behind the brake drum? I don't think it was really torqued down to 725 ft/lbs., if it is try some heat and a LARGE breaker bar. How bad is the seal leaking? Our right seal is leaking and has soaked the brake pad, after trying to repair it a few times we gave up and didn't use the brakes, on that side.

Thanks for the quick reply. I was hoping someone had a service manual for this thing in PDF format, I think i saw one available for $30 or so at one website. There is a generic torque rating list on the John Deere "manual" page for a bolt of that size but I can't imagine having to put that kind of effort into a bolt!

The seal isn't actually leaking, I was just trying to remove the wheel because the tire popped off of the rim while I was parking the beast -- must have been low on air to begin with for that to happen. It seemed all kinds of stuck in there and I couldn't pull the wheel off so I was going to attack the nut. If you're saying only the lugs hold on the wheel, there must be a ton of gunk and rust holding it tight so I'll break out the persuader to loosen things up a bit.

I've got both manuals for the F935 (TM1487 and TM1350)...lemme take a look and let you know about the "big nut" which holds the hub/brake drum on.

As far as popping off the wheel, when I got mine it was the same way, rusted tight...had to pop the wheel off using a sledge for the same reason...I did the other side smarter...loosen the lugs, spray some penetrating oil like Kroil and run it...

BTW, Spend the few bucks and buy the svc manual...its well worth it. Back a few years ago the TM1350 was NLA, but the other day I saw it was available on CD from Momma Deere...of course thats AFTER I scoured eBay and such trying to find one...
