I recently bought an extremely clean and low hours (388) John Deere f735 diesel. I haven't really used the machine at all since I bought it but spring is here so I went to do an oil change on it last night. The manual calls for 2.5 qts. of oil without the filter which I put in as well as a new fram oil filter. After the change I started it up to check for leaks and there were none. I shut the engine down to check the oil level and oil bubbles out of the dip stick. This happened 3 times and now the dipstick is reading at the lower most hash mark. Is there a breather or pcv valve that could be clogged. I so does someone have a location to look because I have not been able to locate it. Thanks. Anthony

I would think there would be a vent at the top of the rocker covers (one or both) and also in the valley pan?

I have both the Deere tech manual and parts book in PDF file that you're welcome to if wanted.
shoot me your email if so

Joe

What happens if you take out the dipstick with it running? There is a breather pipe that joins the 2 cylinders together to collect the crankcase vapor. If they were plugged there would be noticeable pressure release when you take out the dipstick.

I didn't try to take the dipstick out while it was running. I did call a local john deere dealer and talked to someone in the service department. I told him my scenario and he told me this engine uses a pressurized lubrication system and that maybe I am simply opening the dipstick to quickly after shutting the machine down. Does that seem at all right or was he just trying to get me off the phone? Thanks. Anthony

That is a load of hoaky. Pressurized systems do not foam the oil. Is there any chance you can post a picture of your symptoms.

It is kind of hard to take a picture of the "problem" in action. Also I don't want to loose even more oil than I have already have. What happens is after I run the engine if I open the dipstick too quickly after shutting it down I hear a little hissing noise (pressure release) then oil bubbles out. A pretty good amount of oil.

There should not be pressure in the crankcase. You need someone that is versed on that particular engine which is a Yanmar horizontal v-twin. But I would still check that the crankcase breather is not plugged.

Can anyone inform me where the crankcase breather is in this machine? I looked in the parts manual and was not able to locate it. A picture or diagram would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I don't have a picture but there is a rubber hose coming off each cylinder head that joins with a hose from the crankcase. I am not sure if it is then plumbed into the intake system or is vented to the outside.

Ok so I located all of the lines that kubota described. I disconnected and blew out with shop air and reconnected the problem continued. I also noticed that when I shut down the engine I hear a small hissing noise and as it was relieved when i removed one of the lines from the cylinder head. Should I proceed to removing the intake manifold?
