Recently my F3990 has started stalling when mowing. it doesn't appear to be losing power, just stop running. It always starts right up without hesitation immediately after so I can continue mowing.

I replaced both fuel filters and it worked fine for a few weeks, but has started up again. I blew out the fuel hose from the first filter into the tank, but that didn't do anything. When I look at the fuel level in the first filter, the one between the pump and the tank, it is never more than 20% full. Is this normal?

Any suggestions on what I can look into next?

thanks

Is it the (fuel) stop solenoid that is shutting off the engine, or does it still remain in the "run" position right after the engine has stalled?

There are three safety switches in my F mower and any of these could cause fuel shutoff, but so could just a bad or intermittent fuse contact problem.

I don't know what you mean by "remain in the run position". The position of the solenoid as in open/shut?

By run I meant fuel on.

It shuts fuel off when not energized.

Not been able to find any pattern to the shutting off of the mower.

I do notice that now the fuel pump never stops. When getting read to start I used to wait for the fuel pump to stop clicking, then start the mower. Now it never stop clicking.

Am I remembering correctly that eventually the fuel pump will stop clicking when the mower isn't running?

Beginning to think my fuel pump may be slow and just not providing enough fuel.

Called my dealer. There is a recall out on the F3990 units with the regen. So they are going to take a look as they think it may be the cause of the problem.

I'll update.

I thought my question was pretty straight forward:
When the engine has just stalled and the key is still in the run position while you still stay in the operator seat, is the "stop solenoid" in fuel on, or fuel off position?

Just trying to help.

Unfortunately, its just me so I cannot check the shut-off solenoid while still seating on the mower, in my cab. Hopefully it is what the dealer thinks. If not, I'll have to figure out how to get someone out there with me to check the solenoid when it shuts off.

thanks

OK understand.
If you like, you can easily bypass the seat safety switch temporarily with a piece of jumper wire and run it until the next stalling.

To me it would be a scary thought taking it to a dealer.

Did you figure this out? Was it the fuel filter? Battery? Mine is doing the same thing.... Very annoying to say the least. Thanks!
