I wouldn't want to completely block the chute, you'll have wind rowing of grass if you do. A foot operated one that can be full open, partial opened, and fully closed would be what I'd want. Like the grass flap, but it has no partially open ability.

Agreed. Blocking the chute is not an option, especially when the grass is tall.

The grass collector parts look like there is a (plastic?) piece that mounts where the chute is, to direct the clippings rearward into a tube. However it is a short distance until those clippings reach a blower to suck the clippings and blow them into the grass catcher.

I'm not sure how well that rearward mount piece and just some tubing would work. Looks like it could plug up without the assistance of the blower.

My dealer said to install a "Install a F5277 baffle kit" if I do not already have one. Not sure if I do, I'm not getting any hits with that part number.
