Mostly they don't show on my iPhone either.

Well, actually they do display on my Ipad, but only if I view using Safari. If I use the TBN app (which is the way I normally read TBN), the icons don't display.

Ok, I'm using the TBN app on my iPhone.

Check to make sure your Javascripts are enabled, if I disable mine on a site that has problems, I don't get the smiley's if I forget to turn Javascript back on. May not be your issue though.
