expiry on grease???

hi there,
...found a grease gun from my parents farm today... still loaded w/ grease, looks ok smells like grease... but, its gotta be at least 20 yrs old !!!! do you (all), still think that this grease could be good or should i replace? i know, grease aint expensive, but got that yankee thing going on & its winter..... thnx -arthr

I've got some grease in one of the little tubs that's over 25 years old and it's still like new. Shouldn't be a problem as far as I'm concerned. Gerard

I don't think there is any shelf life on most oils or lubs. It can get contaminated with water, dirt, etc but I think if it is kept covered it should last a long time.

it should be good but for the $3 to $4 for new grease, I would toss it.
