Experience with TC30 or TC25 with BH 758C or MMM

My tractor seach has me looking now at a new TC30 and a new TC25. I really don't want a tractor this big, but I'd really like the idea of a backhoe that can dig 8 1/2 feet. I'm looking at putting the 758C backhoe on a TC 30 or TC25. Does anyone have this set-up.

Also, my dealer told me that in order to use a MMM I'd have to "remove a bracket for the backhoe-- just two bolts and real easy to get to..." OR, Is he full of it? I wouldn't mind a little inconvenience, particularly for a machine with this strength.
Any one have experience with the rear discharge 60 or 72" deck on these machines? The literature only shows a 60"side discharge. I'd prefer rear if possible.

There is a rear discharge mower for the TC25D. The options list the 60" and the 72". I don't have the rear discharge on my setup. I do really wished I didn't let my dealer talk me out of it. He told me I couldn't mow my taller grass with it and I have to religiously mow my finish area all the time as it plugs up pretty easy. I think he just didn't want to sell one.

I have the 72" side discharge on my TC29D and it does tax the tractor on my steeper hills. So I am not sure I would get the 72" with the TC25D. The other question I have is why the 25 when it is my understanding that the 29 is only about $400 more than the 25. Now the TC30 is a competitive built tractor and you can probably get that for the same price as the 25.

You may want to have your dealer throw you a price for a TC29D.

I'm really most interested in the TC30 new, the TC25 is used. I figured that the TC30 would be cheaper than the TC29. But, are you saying that it is only $500 cheaper? I might have to look closer at the TC29 as well.
I currently use my side discharge mower to "rake my leaves out to the street"--I have a lot of mature maples. I might miss being able to do that, but I think a rear discharge might mulch the clippings better and handle longer grass. The guys with 3pt. rear discharge mowers seem to rave about them. Until I stopped at the NH dealer, I hadn't really considered a rear discharge mower. Something else to (try to) figure out.

I have the TC30 with a 72" Woods rear discharge mower. The combination is great. My dealer talked me out of the mid-mount and I am really glad he did.

Sorry I don't know anything about the backhoe setup, I get into enough trouble with a FEL!!!!!

As for the pricing issues, ya gotta go with your heart once in a while. NH has a 'compact tractor selector' on their website where you can enter all sorts of variables and it selects a tractor based on your input. Sorry I have misplaced the url.

When I used it (after I bought the TC30) it would respond with either the 30 or a 24 depending on the FEL input. You may find that the backhoe useage will do the same to you.

I hope not, as that is too much backhoe for either of those tractors. (I know the brochure says you can, but I would not do it. My dealer also wont sell a 758C for the TC29/TC33. He claims the brochures that say you can are a big mistake on the part of NH).

At this point, this is just opinion, not fact, but I would investigate in depth with your dealer or NH before putting the 758 BH on one of these tractors.

The TC29D was only $400.00 more than the TC25D. This is based on new comparing new. If I was you, and I am not, but I really think if the TC30 is comparible to price of the used TC25D I definately would go for the 30. To me the 25 is just bit short on Horsepower for that class of tractor, but that is just my opinion. If anyone has the 25 please chime in here. I have the 29 right now and wished that I would have spent the money for the 33 but that increase was over a grand and I had to draw the line someplace.

What tractors are you looking at and which ones are new and which ones are used? Are any of them the 'D' model?

What tasks will you do the most of? Mowing, backhoe work? Before deciding on a tractor, I'd recommend making a list of what you want to do with it and how much, then look for the right tractor and attachments.

If they are all used and none of them are the 'D' model, I'd opt for the most horsepower and hydraulic flow, particularly since you said you want a backhoe. If there are any 'D', e.g., TC25D, TC29D, TC33D, models mixed into this analysis that would change the price comparisons.

Also, while people do have a mmm and a backhoe, if I were you, I'd ask to see exactly what you would have to do to mount and dismount the backhoe. Then ask yourself, how much you would be doing this.

3 ph mowers are fine, regardless of how they discharge, but they take getting used to, particularly if you have trees, shrubs, etc. or other things to mow around.

Thanks for the input. Sorry for the confusion. I'm still confused with the naming of these NH tractors. I was looking at a used TC25D, and a new TC30. I've ruled out the used TC25D, but I really like the TC30.
I will be doing primarily mowing, loader work, and tilling. The backhoe will probably be used very infrequently. But, when I'm using the backhoe, it will probably be for some large projects. I know that the set-up will not be ideal for switching easily between the hoe and mmm, but if it's just taking off one bracket, then I could make the sacrafice to get a hoe that can dig 8 1/2 feet. And I think that a mmm rear discharge would work really well for me.
My fear is that the TC 30 is too big for me. It seems to be the cheapest smallest platform to allow me to put a hoe of this caliber. While it will let me do my backhoe work, it might be too tall to fit in some of the areas of my property. I keep walking around with a tape to see.
I wish I could get a folding ROPS for it. I'm wondering if I can take the ROPS off--not permanately, but to complete a project in that one area of my property where it won't fit. I have an area that I need to put in a pathway under some old lilac trees. I was also wondering how expensive it would be to buy an extra ROPS, and make a folding unit, but allow me to have a "factory correct: ROPS to put on if I ever want to sell/trade the tractor.

As far as the folding ROP goes...Maybe spencer200 can chime in here...I think you could buy the "D" model folding ROP from parts and install it on your tractor. Has anyone else looked into this?
