Has anyone had any experience with Exmark zeroturn mowers? They seem to be built good and look like good mowers. I am looking at the CT model. 48" cut with 19 hp Kaw.engine.

My Deere salesman says he finds the quality near equal to the Deere of the same size, and thinks that because less $$'s, get a better deal. He has sold a bundle of them to mostly commercial buyers. Also, I think he said there was a smaller size than the Deere models that sells well.
There are a lot of other "popular" brands that he takes in on trade, only if he has to, and they don't compare to either the Deere or the ExMark. But you can make your own decision what is best for you.

I can't claim personal experience, but I know the majority of the quality lawn care pros around here run them. You might want to check out www lawnsite.com, lots of lively talk by the pros there (but much more bull than on TBN.)

I owned a 52" walk behind bought new in '96 it was an excellent mower sold it in '00. I would also say it is the status symbol among contractors. Toro acquired them a while ago and whether they messed anything up or not???

There is no way that Deere comes close to comparing to a Exmark. Your dealer is feeling you a line of bull. How many commercial mowers have you seen out with Deere? I have yet to see one. Everyone either uses Exmark, scag, ferris, and we are strarting to sell Kubota ZD's to that market as well.

I didn't even realize John Deere made ZTR's for I have never seen anyone use one.

I know alot of people use Dixie Choppers though, even though they haven't been mentioned in this thread up to this point.

And in my neck of the woods They use a lot of Grasshoppers. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I always figured I hadn't seen many Deeres used commercially (except on the golf course) due only to the high price of the green paint. Before I finally decided to get an all-purpose tractor, I was considering a ZTR and looked at the Deere. It seemed solid as a rock. Anybody ever took a good look at their '7-iron' deck? Geeez, the metal seems as thick as the navy's best battleship! And the diesel verions have engines made by the same folks who make their great tractors.
If the ZTR Deere is any less of a performer than the others, I wonder in what area the Deere falls short?

Yep, you see lots of them on the lawn contractor trailers around here, too. Lots of them. And the skags, too. But the biggest residential outfits seem to have those Toro walk behinds with the little wheely deal that you stand on(is it called a sulky?).

Mostly in the area that a BlueOrange Deaker can't sell one.

Deere is trying to catch up they bought Great Dane to get the stander. Great Dane was started by Dane Scag as in Scag mowers. Just a little info.
Also Toro does own Exmark and has pretty much left them alone as not to mess than up,but if you are considering a ztr Toro and are the same mowe /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gifr just different decks.

I currently am running 3 exmark Lazers and 1 Gravely 34" ztr riders and I would not trade them for anything. The Gravely is the latest addition since I can now ride through small gate whereas before a walk behind was needed. I have tried almost all the others but nothing is quite like the Lazer. Mainly in N. Louisiana we mulch everything and NOTHING mulches as good as the Lazer deck. Also, most Exmark dealers are true professional dealers and understand that parts are needed in inventory and service is usually next day turn around for the commercial guys.
To me Exmark is still number one but I think Gravely is getting better and better every year and and there product proves it.
Of course, If there is no good dealers around you for these products, disregard everything I mentioned and find a machine a good dealer in your sells so service is not an issue.
