I am sixty-one years old. Too old to be out after dark chasing lightning bugs.

It is hard to say no to a five year old.

Especially a granddaughter!

I know exactly what you mean. I have a five year old and a two year old granddaughter and they know that grandpa cannot say NO to them. They get whatever they want.

The lightning bugs are out at our place and what amazes is me is how high they fly. They go up into the tree tops instead of staying near the grass. As a kid, they always seemed to stay low to the ground and I don't remember seeing them high up in the air.

Hmmmm, we normally have bats flying over the house catching bugs but I have not noticed the bats after the lightning bugs. Will have to pay more attention tonight....

Little brown bats are almost extinct from white nose fungal disease...so the bugs are freed from a major predator, to our loss.
