excessive pressure in trans/hydraulic system

Hi Everyone, I'm a new member. I'm having issues with my 2001 4200 sst hydraulic system. I had overfilled the system (it's now mid level at sight glass), now there is air pressure building in the system as noticed by air escaping at the fill plug. The excess oil when drained was foamy. Any ideas on what I messed up? thanks

Does everything still work OK? I assume that you have a Deere 4200,
and not a Kubota L4200.

The likely culprit for air bubble injection into the system is the rubber
intake manifold on top of the implement pump (left front). If that is
compromised, then air is sucked into the hyd fluid. The rubber connector
under the tractor is also somewhat vulnerable to damage and/or age.
This should not be related to your fluid overfill, however.

Also note that JD has upgraded the oil fill ventillation cap to one that
breathes better.

Ok I dont know what a 2001 4200 sst is, however

you have just overfilled your hyrdaulic tank with oil, therefore you have filled your hydraulic tank breather with oil and it is now all "glumed " up.
Your breather now does not breath, therefore the next easist route for air to get out is through the tank filler.

Solution:
Replace breather or try and wash out with soapy water.

sorry I'm late getting back, thanks for the reply. The 4200 is jd,s compact tractor 3cyl 26hp. It was indeed the manifold, torn under a hose clamp. The suspected overfill was only the normal amount of oil whipped into a frenzy by the air leak. When I removed the sight glass( because I couldn't see thru it) the oil came out like soft serv ice cream. Apparently the volume was increased by the air infusion. I installed the new hose(manifold) and everything now works like new. Thanks again for the reply !
