Does anyone know where I can find info on one, Had to move some stuff out of a friends fathers house who had recently died, the friends out of state and he asked me to just sell it and send him a check.
I can't find anything even on the net, it looks pretty nice with some engraving, stamping and bright metal everywhere except the barrels. says Excelsior 88 super on top between the barrels, also "made in Italy" and "12 gauge" on the barrels, has a bunch of stars stamped on the frame under the barrels along with some other stampings.

Tried google and found info on what seems to be different guns made in other countries, I'm thinking it's either really rare or a mongrel junk. it does seem well built, I'm not into double barrels, there were other guns that I'm familiar with and know what to expect for sale price but this one has me stumped?
JB.

From what I know about Excelsior shotguns they were made in Europe by Liegeise D"armes A"Feu company or some were made by Iver Johnson company. I believe they were made between 1890-1914.I don,t know there value.Hope this helps.coobie

I suggest that you contact a local guy dealer. Most will give you the information that you are looking for and some will even take guns on consignment (?) not sure about third party handling though?

Best to go in and ask questions before you bring in the gun. Get as much information as you can, barrel length, serial number, gauge, even a few pictures, etc.

Around here we have a few good gun dealers that also sell older guns along with a few gun clubs that would be helpful but it is a bit of a drive from CT.

Try Graybeard Outdoors on the net. If the guys on that site can't answer your questions I don't know who can.

IVe got to disagree. I think you need to spend your time on the internet first before walking in and talking face to face.

Nothing worse than walking in with a hunk of steel worth its weight in gold and being told its junk because the guy behind the counter knows otherwise and can see your clueless.

I'm not saying DONT go in and talk with a local guy.... just make shure you have some basic knowledge of what your holding first.

I tried finding out what ever I could, but came up totally empty on the net. the name comes up but nothing solid on a known Italian company.

I brought it in to a reputable guy today, he said it's nothing special, a decent gun though and I could put it on his rack for consignment, said he would not buy it himself but I should expect about $250. retail.

Gonna bring it to another larger shop that will buy anything, to get another opinion.
Thanks, JB.

Hey.....Just saw your questions re: the Excelsior double 12. This was made in the 60's and I bought one new. It was an inexpensive gun at the time, and mine was stolen in a burglary. I have missed that gun ever since. I'm an interested buyer if you are a seller. Value is going to be whatever we agree on, as it wasn't anything special when new. I will say however that I never missed any birds when shooting that gun.
