Fallen tree, power line blocks Vancouver street | The Columbian

A botched excavation job sent a 110-foot tree crashing onto a street in east Vancouver on Sunday afternoon. The tree brought down a nearby power line, startled onlookers and caused Vancouver police to close the roadway for hours.

Before the tree fell, workers cut into its base and were using a rope hooked to an excavating machine to try to pull it down and away from the roadway, she said. No one was injured when the tree went down.

This guy was trying to fall a tree in a residential neighborhood? Unbelievable. He should have been taking the tree down in sections, dropping them and limbs at the base of the tree. My guess is that he was not versed in residential tree removal.

It appears to be the tree next to the bus stop symbol. The "A" is the address given, but it looks like that house is now gone, and the article calls it a vacant lot.
