Excavator Recovery From Swamp

A local excavator went down a snowmobile trail to rescue a sunken trail groomer. The machine sunk in the same swamp. The recovery took 3 days and at least 3 dozers that were attached at a distance by cables. I think that the excavator is a Daewoo or a Doosan.
I would not take anything across a swamp unless it had amphibious tracks.

As the owner of an 80,000 lb excavator, I can say thats the kind of thing nightmares are made of!

I was recently informed that the excavator weighs 45,000 pounds.
Over one half mile of cable was used in the recovery.
Once it was out of the hole, they were able to fire it up and drive it out to dry land. (I assume that the water was drained from the oil pan and the injectors were pulled prior to starting to avoid a hydrolock situation)
