everything backwards on DK50SE

Has anyone else been confused with everything being backwards on the DK50SE vs the CK28? Brake pedals on left, brake lock pulls up vs push down to engage, push forward pedal to back up, the volume control on the radio is the right hand knob, the tuning knob is on the left. Instinct is alway wrong switching from one tractor to another. "But then, I'd ***** if they hung me with a new rope"

I got caught with the brake once. I had parked on a slight incline with the HST in gear, bucket lowered and brake not set. Turned tractor off to pile some brush. Then shifted to neutral and started the tractor. When I lifted the bucket the tractor rolled back 15' or so into a barbed wire fence, with me pushing on the HST pedal as a brake (but it was in neutral) and then finally hitting the brake on the left side. I broke the top 2 strands and creased a fender. But now the layout is familiar and automatic.

I think the left vs right brake pedal has been argued several times. I'm a fan of the left side brake pedal for an HST since it is easier to use the split brake function when required.

The dual HST pedals seem natural to me, but I've never used the rocker style which would be a push-back-to-go-back operation. It did take a couple of times for me to get used to letting up on the HST to increase hill climbing ability.

The parking brake seems natural for me. I don't have a radio but your description does seem backwards. Then again, I don't even use the radio I have in my vehicle. Perhaps the radio is a Korean thing--do they drive on the left like the Japanese? I always need to remember that when refueling my Nissan truck as the gas filler is on the right instead of the left as most North American cars.

This is why I think that the "safety" interlock of requiring you to be in neutral to start the engine
is all wrong for a HST tractor. I keep mine in gear all the time.

Newer Kiotis have gone to electric PTOs and no foot clutch, like many other HST machines.....good
for braking-turns; not so great for feathering the PTO on/off.

I was surprised to see the Bobcat version of the CK30 reversed the engine speed control lever
versus the nearly identical Kioti unit.

KRAZSK: I don't get the pushing of the FWD pedal to back up. ??

Yeah, I probably wasn't clear, the rocker hydro pedal vs the front and back separate pedals. When you jump from one tractor to the other, your foot doesn't naturally do the "correct" thing. You have to "think" for the first few minutes.

Well I will say this, coming from a Kubota L3400, clutch on the left, brakes on the right, single long rocker treadle pedal. Do not have to be in neutral range to start, but have to have clutch pushed in.. PTO was a little lever on the right side behind you, activate that then slowly let out clutch... everything is different with the Kioti. and it took me maybe 10 to 20 hours to become totally acclimated. It all seems fine now..

Brake lock pulls up vs down gets me all the time. I'm thinking it's because it's new and hasn't really broken in yet, but it's still pretty stiff so I'll try the old way with no luck then the new way with no luck then get confused before it finally locks. The other one that drives me nuts is the range selector, high is forward now instead of backwards like before.

When I used the witch word with the capital B, it was sensored. That was surely not meant to be offensive, and is not considered where I live to be offensive. If anyone took it as offensive, I apologize, but it was not intended that way.

Its about the policies of TBN and is not allowed whether it was meant to be offensive or not, is irrelevant. It has nothing to do with where you live. When you signed on to TBN you made an agreement to not use any offensive language, etc.

Yeah. We never heard that kinda language before . We're all alter boys here. Personally I've never even said those words but now I'm gonna start. All because of this thread. My life is forever changed. Thank you TBN and next time I'm not buying another Chinese tractor that I have to fix every time I use.
