Last week I lost my dangnabit fuel cap for the second time. Never again will I forget to put it back on or whatever the heck happened to it. A simple piece of wire, 2 round terminals and a small screw is all that is needed to secure it. I did use LocTite on the screw as it is not cranked down on the wire terminal. I hope this prevents someone else from losing theirs.

I have a locking fuel cap & the key is on the same ring as my ignition key.

Don't take the key out of the cap & the cap will not be far from the tractor.

Looks like a workable solution to me. Good thinking.

Just make sure to leave airflow through a vented cap. Some engines don't seem to be set up this way, but a co-worker one time lost a cap on a JD 850 with a Yanmar 25 HP engine. To keep the fuel from spilling, he put a sandwich bag over the fill hole and rubber banded it. Sucked a 10 gallon tank (poly plastic), to the size of a football. Wound up having to replace the tank later because it would never hold more than 5 1/2 gallons, and bounced around in it's new home so much, it eventually started leaking. Sidey

Good idea,or just set the gas cap on the seat and you shall always find it...it works.;)

I never actually lost a fuel cap, I knew exactly where it was as it exited the mower deck.

LOL's, I wish mine did that. I think mine are up in the woods somewhere. That was where I noticed the spilling diesel fuel in the snow. Oh well, crap happens.
