Truck Dealer

I've been looking at GM trucks and came accross this dealer on an RV forum. Has any one bought from this dealer?
It's off I-275 at U.S. 50 - Lawrenceburg, IN 47025

$49 over invoice, plus you get the rebates also, thats like $12,500 off the list price for the truck I'm looking at.

I haven't bought a car or truck retail in decades but, being in the business, maybe I can offer you a little insight. It sounds like they're just trying to clean up their 2003 model inventory. The time to order any more has passed. If they have something in inventory (or are willing to find and can dealer trade for one) that you want, it's a good deal for you. They're going to rely on the dealer holdback and whatever dealer promotions might be or have been in effect for their profit on deals like this. I hope they have what you want.

They claim they always sell for $49 over invoice. In atlanta, the best I've done is a little under invoice, but thats with the GM rebate of $4500 too. This ande dealer would save me at least 5K and he has the trucks on the lot. My local dealer wants 42K, the indiana dealer wants 37K, same exact truck, same options. List is just under 48K.

I guess they can get more in atlanta, but a 500 mile trip is worth 5K to me, or he will ship for $750. I don't think my local dealer will match it, but I'll try monday when I go for a test drive.

I've never done business with Ande, but they have advertised $49 over invoice for as long as I've been in the area. I don't think it's just a close-out

Congrats on your new truck. My only caution would be to make certain you service the transmission faithfully. I don't know how they are now, but the running gag in the business on mid- and late-nineties Dodge pickups was that the 'SLT' designation stood for "Same Lousy Transmission."

I would think that would have been solved by now, but, then again, Chevy cab corners and Ford tailgates and quarter panels above the wheels STILL rust. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Well this is actuall my third Dodge, one farm truck (blown engine), two daily drivers. I've not had any of the trans problems others have had. I hope the 48RE will hold up like my still going strong 98 gasser. But this is the first cummins in a PU. I guess most people that have auto tans problems are in the "heavy" tow rigs.

I use synthetic fluid and now the factory fill is synthetic. Plus I made sure I got the good extended coverage on the trans. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I never tow more than 12K, well under the max ratings. I got 120K out of one trans, but I sure like the aggressive 48RE. Much better. Not as good as the other 5 speed autos. But good and solid, though not real smooth like the Allison and Ford's torqueshift. I can't complain about the cummins, runs great.

Re: Ever done business with Ande Chevrolet in Indy

$49 over invoice is about what you should buy ALL vehicles for. Dealers get on most cars/trucks a 3% holdback (based on MSRP) from the auto manufacturer, so on a $30K vehicle, they are getting $900 if they sold it AT invoice alone.

Now you know why they laugh at the folks that pay pretty close to list as they are driving away.

Re: Ever done business with Ande Chevrolet in Indy

Yep, your 100% right on. My Dodge dealer will sale at invoice with very little haggle. I was looking at Chevy/GMC for the crew cab, no deal. Too much money for a Duramax even with the rebates. Most Dodge dealers are the same way... very close to list and won't budge. Ford will deal due to the 6.0 problems.

I have a great truck, but I wish the back seat was a little bit bigger. Oh well, now I can post on TDR with the rest of the Dodge Cummins crowd. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I guess it's just like what we talk about with tractors. It depends on what you want from a dealer.

If you're not interested in the dealer maintaining an inventory of vehicles and a well trained staff to show, demonstrate and answer all of your questions about the second largest investment you're likely to make in your life, you could be right. If you don't want your dealer to have a well stocked parts department with well trained personnel or a well trained service department and body shop with the right equipment to diagnose and repair your vehicle properly then maybe that is the right price. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Maybe you'd like a dealer who doesn't need a physical facility at all. Perhaps a dealer with just a website for you to place your order would be what you'd like. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I'm sure it'll be easy to figure out what drive train combination works best for your applications. Knowing everything about new models and new engines and such won't be a problem at all. It should be easy to determine which body and hoist will work best with which wheelbase. It'll be no trouble at all learning the different requirements in drive train and suspension for a constant load or an increasing load or a decreasing load. It'll be easy to know that the weight of two loads requiring the same size body has an effect on not only the tires, axles, wheels, frame and drive train needed but also on the wheelbase requirement, by how much and in which direction. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Yeah, just a website will do... /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
