That's really surprising. You'd think the software would know there's no "67 mph" roads, ignoring anything that's not an increment 5 mph. You'd also think they'd couple it with the GPS, as at least all the roads I drive in my daily travels, have speed limits that show correctly in Waze and other mapping apps.
Tesla/Google speed limit on a major limited access 4 lane divided highway near me is 35 MPH, but 65 MPH posted.

Those using FSD or even Autosteer will be a nuisance for a couple of miles before it gets it right.

And, the car reads the speed limit sign, correctly displays 65 MPH in the animated graphic, yet still thinks the speed limit is 35 MPH.

Thought this would be a good thread to start where EV owners (INCLUDING PLUG-IN HYBRIDS) can share personal anecdotes and those thinking about buying an EV can ask questions pertaining to ownership.
This is not a thread of non EV owners to bash and ridicule EV's and EV owners.
Let's keep it clean people! ;)

As of today I own a 2023 Tesla Y Long Range and a 2021 Chevrolet Bolt.
Wife has two Hybrids -- 2022 Corolla and 2013 Prius V -- both are LIFETIME vehicles, incredible reliability. The Corolla is rated at 52/53, but it consistently delivers over 62mpg - I tuned it using TechStream (I was a Computer Scientist during my earlier career). Prius is around 40-45mpg, but has loads of room in the back and is basically a "station wagon". Dependability of both vehicles is in a class all by itself.

Looked at the F-150 Lightning (some attraction with the $7500 tax credit) -- decided against it due to Ford's Gouging of pickup truck buyers ($75K) and when I realized it had lousy towing (7K max plus it drains the battery BADLY while towing) and even worse range 240-320 miles (depending on battery size), but owners are reporting considerably less.

I'm waiting for new Solid-State Batteries to appear before I leap into an electrified truck (ALL Lithium-Ion batteries start dying the minute they leave the assembly line) -- Toyota has spent BILLIONS on Solid-State and are closest -- likely fielding in 2-4 years.

I will never buy a Tesla from Musk -- the Pig runs around "producing" children out of wedlock which is disgusting, then runs $1M gambling lotteries to support that Serial Wife Cheater Trump -- I'm a Christian and cannot stand either of these slug worms. There's way too much gambling going on in the US now -- every time I turn on an NFL or NCAA Football game, I'm hit with their ads.

Toyota definitely makes good products. My son just bought his first car, 2022 Toyota Corolla.
I just wish the dealership mafia network would not be protected by states.
Buying a Tesla online was the most painless experience ever!
We have a few F150 Lightnings at work and they are great vehicles. If the price wasn't so outrageous I would have like to have one instead my GM Bolt.
The solid state batteries will be a game changer for sure. I would find it hard to believe that anyone outside of Tesla would create these first. Tesla is the leader, by far, in the EV world.
I agree with you on Musk's morality (as well as Trump). I'm not sure about not buying or shopping at places because of their morality as you probably will have to go Amish and make almost everything you have. ;)
Many, so called Christians, live in open adultery and in essence, consecutive polygamy.

You were only looking at a $75k Lightning? Bottom of the line then. Top end big battery is a 10,000 pound tow.

As for range when towing, quite frankly everything's range decreases when towing. Do more work, use more energy. With an EV there is less energy consumed in overhead so when one triples the wind load towing one shouldn't cry to momma about battery range halving.

Keep waiting. I'm waiting on PNEG, Personal Nuclear Electric Generators.

How about that! We can say the T word on TBN now!

To Musk's credit he doesn't abandon his baby mommas or children. To Trump's credit, he used to be a Democrat and that is just the way Democrats behave as our Enlightened Elite. You know what Harris did for Willie Brown? And vice versa? And are claiming the high road in dissing Musk and Trump?

Then again Elon Musk did name one child "X". That's unforgivable! I'm convinced! I'm immediately selling my Y! 😇

Again, if I were programming this, I'd flag a user prompt to select the appropriate speed, in those relatively few circumstances where signage and GPS data disagree. Honestly, how hard would it be for the car to throw up a menu with two buttons, 35 and 65 mph, in those occasional circumstances when there's disparate inputs.

One can override. There is a cruise control speed "trim" to bump speed up/down 1 MPH or 5 MPH. I have the base Autopilot which is adaptive cruise control with very good lane following (Autosteer). My ACC is configured to "current speed" when "speed limit" or "speed limit +- offset" are the other options.

When Autosteer is engaged and Tesla's database doesn't think one is on a limited access highway the cruise control is limited to +5 over what it thinks is the posted speed limit.

I have tried clicking the voice command button and saying, "problem report speed limit is 65 MPH not 35 MPH and your cameras saw the sign". Seems to have accepted the "command" so maybe someone at Tesla will see it?

Another EV maker on the brink of bankruptcy ! Maybe folks are starting to see the light.

There were more than 2000 auto makers in the US in the first 20 years of the 20th century, 253 registered in 1908 alone. By 1929, that had dropped to 44, and today you can count them almost on your ten fingers.

Was that “folks seeing the light”, as in the end of the auto industry, or just the natural consolidation that happens in the wake of every new tech boom?

By your supposition, we’d have gone back to horses, by the end of WW2.

Probably not long before following Rivian. If people weren't gun shy before, they probably are now after seeing what Rivian customers are going through.

After seeing this article, I sure would be reconsidering purchasing a vehicle from them.
