Thought this would be a good thread to start where EV owners (INCLUDING PLUG-IN HYBRIDS) can share personal anecdotes and those thinking about buying an EV can ask questions pertaining to ownership.
This is not a thread of non EV owners to bash and ridicule EV's and EV owners.
Let's keep it clean people!

As of today I own a 2023 Tesla Y Long Range and a 2021 Chevrolet Bolt.

EV's and the like have nothing to do with who I am. It's a simple fact. Right now an EV pickup simply can not do what I need done.

Maybe in the future - yes. I can keep my cool about all of this until the gov tries to force EV's on me.

Right now the EV's are an experiment. Cherished by the "woke" (whatever that means) and those who care to be a part of the in crowd.

Government is not forcing you to buy an EV.
Far as I know you can still going to your local dealer mafia network and buy you and ICE vehicle.

I have seen several Cyber Trucks around here lately. They are growing on me. I have said it before, if they were cheap enough - like almost throw away cheap, I would have an electric vehicle for going back and forth to work and random errands.

I have an old beater I use for that most of the time. It just doesn't make sense to burn a ton of diesel in my big truck when I don't need anything more than cheap transportation for the day.

He (and I) didn't say they were forcing us to buy them. I said they are forcing them ON us, i.e., using tax money for charging stations, and incentives to try to "nudge" people to buy them. Also trying to outlaw sales of ICE cars wherever they think they can get away with it. It's not like they (Federal gov.) is trying to hide the fact that they are trying to force them on the country, they brag about it.

I don't personally have anything against them. I might even be inclined to buy one under the right circumstances. Like if they were priced according to their value (to ME). That means priced cheap enough to be a daily "beater" type car, like maybe under $15,000. I would use it as a third or fourth car. Like an appliance. Use it to drive 40 miles to work every day and let it get beat up in parking lots.

And when the expensive battery gives up, send it to the crusher and get another appliance car.

I would still have an ICE truck for work, an ICE car for long trips and an ICE car for fun, i.e., sports car with a manual transmission, etc.

I think if you are in the market for a NEW vehicle or even a 2 yr old or less vehicle and qualify for tax incentives an EV might be a good value for you.
I've seen used Teslas that meet the $4k fed tax incentive go for about $24k, so $20k after tax incentive.
I had to change the oil/filter in my daughters Mazda 3 and was thankful about not having to worry about this anymore for two of our vehicles.
And I don't like driving my F250 diesel unless it's needed. Big and sluggish after driving an EV for 2 years.
Just the convenience of charging at home is worth it to me.

What difference does it make - right now. I could be GIVEN an EV pickup and it would just sit in my yard. It can not do what I need done - there are NO local charging facilities - there are no local dealerships - no local service facilities.

At this particular time - it's a moot point.

The difference is you use your EV for running errands, going to work and your ICE truck for truck stuff.
You are 30 miles from Spokan, WA with a supercharger. That is irrelevant because you do the majority of your charging at the comfort of your own home.
