Ok, my turn to rant.

Wifes computer was scheduled to upgrade yesterday. Got home late from work, it had upgraded, but was waiting for it's initial logon after reboot, etc.

looked ok.. then I noticed, not on ethernet ( plugged in at router via cable ). but had switched to wifi. Odd. ( thankfully the wifi worked ).

after about 20 minutes of checking.. diagnose connection, etc. I get a 'missing needed protocals' or something.

the auto fix don't work... get kicked over to the help forums.. there was some netsesion reset fix you do from the command line, that didn't work. Then sugested to update firmware in router, Last 2 options were to download some app to take a snapshot of system and them upload it for review.. OR roll back to win 8.... grr.

sat there poking around for a bit. looked at the driver for the ethernet port... it was a 8-15-15 driver from microsoft ( a newer one than it had when i was on 8.. 8 had a late 2014 driver.. so in the upgrade to 10, it got an 8-15-15 driver.... on a whim I poked around to update the driver.. there was an updated one.. 8-30-15..

poof.. it fixed it.

So.. why when microsoft updated 8 to 10, and the 2014 driver to a 2015 driver.. why not the latest 2015 driver????

UGH!

I know my next laptop will not have Micro Soft OS on it. Enough of their BS.
