Brother wanted to find corners on irregular acerage… owner that knew all passed.

Surveyors very busy but would schedule for $$$.

Brother found some app for his cell phone and found all the corner pins… even pins that were covered under years of duff… just cell phone and flat bottom shovel.

Lots of old stuff around the 1850 homestead but a distant family member showed up with a conventional and 53’ trailer and loaded it all.

At first my brother was a little disappointed but the wife said did us a favor!

Interesting old thread this is. :)

We are getting more and more texts, phone calls, and mail to buy our land. Most of the offers are VERY low, IF there is even an offer. Most want to know how much we want for the land. The few times I have bothered to talk to one of these people, I always say, "Well, you called me. What is YOUR offer for my land?" That shuts them up. They are gathering information when they call. Answering the phone, they know it is a real number. If one says, yes I am so in so, that confirms the number and name. Then if one says, yes, I own the land, that is more confirmation. And most important of all, the price. If you give a price, that helps them in the valuations because they sure do not seem to know.

We once got a mailed offer with a price....

$300. For five acres. That was sad. That person seriously needs help and I am not being snarky.

Both the wife and I recently got a call from the same guy and he actually left a message. Most do not. He said he was not one of the low ball buyers. He had a good script at least. Might have even been honest but we ain't selling. :)

We are getting 3-5 "offers" a week now. That we know of at least, since we have blocked so many calls, and we seldom answer a number we do not recognize.

We're in the process of putting my MIL in a nursing home and selling off assets. We found that she's held onto 3 lots in another town for over 30 years for no apparent reason. The adjacent owner has been trying to buy it for all those years and she and my deceased FIL refused. They had no use for that land and never visited it. We called the adjacent landowner and he was overjoyed to finally be able to buy it and offered 20% above market. I feel sorry for him that he couldn't have been enjoying it all these years.

Maybe a nest egg for old age?

The only place I own that receives any unsolicited interest is in Washington.

Several per week is typical.

I thought about double the assessed value as a net to me but know it’s just a waste of time…

For some odd reason it’s been about 5 years since the last unsolicited East Oakland offer…

I haven't received an offer in over a week. Same thing with texts and phone calls offering loans and insurance. Odd how that's slowed down so much all of a sudden.

That's because they all have switched to calling me about my loan application which is nearly ready... I'm getting up to 3 calls per day.

The last thing that I want at this point in my life is a stinkin' loan. :(

Oh, so here you are. We’ve been trying to reach you 😊 Seems like my offers come in waves.

I feel slighted; I only get calls wanting to buy my timber. One guy asked what I thought it was worth. I replied $1/bd.ft. he hung up.

They want our timber.
They want our land.
They want our home.

But "Doug Buys Junk Cars" wouldn't take my 85 chevy pickup. :ROFLMAO:
