Error message on my Kubota 3540

My 3540 Kubota with glide shift transmission suddenly gave an error message of "60" which the manual says that a proportional valve is acting up. The tractor would not move forward when I tried to shift. I turned it off and studied the manual, then restarted and everything is fine now. I was tilling at the time, and I don't want to tear anything up. Any ideas on this? What is a proportional valve and what does it do? Many thanks, guys. Wabashwader

Not sure how different the 40 series is different from the 30 series. The proportional valve is a solenoid valve that regulates the flow of oil using Pulse Width Modulation to the clutch pack after shifting is completed (feathers the clutch). The solenoid should be on the upper middle part of the valve body on the left side. Either you have a loose connector, ground or the coil is opening up and defective to cause the ERROR 60. Check wiring going yo valve body to make sure it is not disturbed or torn loose. You also may check the Emergency Connector by the right side of the seat to make sure it is not shorted or grounded.
