Enormous Stump disposal? Most cost effective method?

I say hook up a giant rope to the stump with about 100 feet of slack. Then hook it up to the hitch of your f350, and have the hitch right next to the stump. Then stomp on the gas and drive off as fast as you can. with all the momentum in that truck going like 20 mph will do one of 4 things.

1.when the truck gets to the end of the rope it will stop dead and you will get whiplash :mad:

2. when the truck gets to the end of the rope the hitch will rip off:ashamed:

3.when the truck gets to the end of the rope the stump will move a bit:cool:

4. when the truck gets to the end of the rope the rope will snap:(

NOW WHEN I SAY A GIANT ROPE I DON`T MEAN THE BIGGEST ROPE YOU CAN GET AT HOME DEPOT OR OR RONA, I MEAN THE SORT OF ROPE YOU USE TO TIE UP A BATTLE SHIP (4 INCH PLUS):D

:thumbsup: :laughing::laughing::laughing:

The OP said the circumference was about 30 ft, so the diameter of the tree should be about 8 ft. How much could that weigh with the dirt off?

Pressure washer with a bullet nozzle will cut off a lot of dirt.

I think I would bore a large hole through the center top, and some holes in the side to reach the center hole, and insert charcoal and light and put a blower on the bottom hole after the charcoal fire is going good. For even faster burn, use pure oxygen.

I think he mentioned he can't burn it because it is next to another tree. And it is messing up a great view. Unless of course he cuts it up enough to move it. I still think hacking off as much as possible with a chainsaw to get it down to a manageable size. Chains can be resharpened and he has the saw. The biggest threat there is kick back from that big of a saw. I have had smaller saws kick back and scare the heck out of me.

If the Sculpture idea does not work turn it into a nice canoe!:thumbsup:

My vote is for the sacrificial chain saw chain and bar as suggested earlier. I use this method for cutting railroad ties and other wood that will dull a normal chain. My chainsaw is a 70's model so I have quite a few parts to sacrifice. (saw included) A good file for sharpening and just go to hacking. I have friends who advise me I will ruin my chain; My response is "go get your axe" and see if you are still worried about my chain after a couple hr's work with the axe.

You may have a fantastic opportunity starring you in the face. If you clean the root ball with a pressure washer you will find that small rocks have been grown around and captivated by the roots over the years. It is a facinating site to see after cleaning. But the real gem here is your wife's photo business. She can use this massive unique beast, once cleaned up, as a backdrop of sorts for photos. Since it is a business need, renting or buying a pressure washer should be tax deductable. After you use it for some photos, disposing of it can also possibly be a business expense (deductable?). Who knows? The photos may even be worth something. One more thing. A local guy around here did this stump cleanup, and flipped it upside down, and calls it art. It is incredible to look at. He wants $10,000 for it. I bet he finds someone who will bite.

Eddie built a 5 acre lake, by himself, in the middle of a forest, with nothing but a pocket knife, a bit of kite string and a can of spinach. I would listen to his advice.

Find someone in your area with a military vehicle. Most would be more than willing to give you a hand. I pulled the stumps to the back yard, hit the dirt off with a spud bar, and used wedges to split them to movable sizes. It is a lot of work, but the house looks better.

Military vehicle is the answer. But you what one with the 120 mm pipe sticking out from the turret...

If you could find someone with a big tandem axle truck you could try having that pull the stump. (unlike my other idea this has a good chance of working)
