one thing I came across is to get a special chain for it, the type used to cut through metal for like cutting access holes for people trapped inside crumpled cars - they are like $200 but I think it would still ruin my bar? at least with that I could cut through the wood, dirt, gravel and whatever else is in this rootball. Anyone has experience with one of these type of chains, I am all ears!

I have a carbide chain for my MS460 and it works AMAZING. I cut in dirty wood a lot and Ive yet to have to sharpen it in a year. I was told they outlast standard chains by about 20x's, from what i can tell so far it will. This is not one of the "bullet rescue chains" It is like a normal chain with teeth brazed onto it almost like a circular saw blade. I have yet to break a tooth, but am told to watch out for stones, b/c that may do it. However the dirt and grit dont really seem to bother it. Depending on how much dirt there is, it may not bother the bar too much, but i dont know about that for certain. Mine came from Rapco Industries.

Forgot to mention, wife is a photographer and has a studio on site, so customers come and park in our front. Ma'ma says the eyesore has to go soon.:(

Sorry, I didn't read the OP well, as I thought the stump was still in the ground.
As it is out of the ground, then Ma'ma gets the bill from her next photographer job.:D

I'd talk to a wrecker service that has a truck and winch and can winch it in and move it where you want it. Likely less than $500.

I have an (electric) pressure washer but its prolly way under powered, not to mention I can only reach the perimeter soil. the stump is sitting upright with the majority of the dirt underneath, out of reach for even the best of power washers.

Get the pressure washer out and do what you can. Lop offwhat you can, then get the pressure washer out again. Lather, rinse, repeat. :D

How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time. :licking:

I believe you said it was by the street? Put a "FREE!" sign on it, and wait a few days. If it is still there, put a "FOR SALE: $1000", and it will be stolen by morning. . .

Maybe you could burn it down by carving out a bowl shaped recess on the top, dumping some charcoal briquettes in it and lighting it up.

I would expect it to burn slowly unless it is real dry, but I would keep a hose handy in case it starts burning out of control.

Had this problem a couple times over. A couple I just left in the yard for over a year and finally I could pick them up with the tractor and take em out to the edge of the woods. I had one that was fresh and really big, tractor would just grunt when I tried to pick it up. So I started using the FEL to roll the thing toward the edge of the woods. After about 100' or so enough dirt (clay) had fallen off that I could pick it up with the tractor.
Have you tried to roll it with your FEL?

I agree, by the end of summer it will weigh quite a bit less. You just have to pick at it. As was already mentioned "wash rinse repeat."

Well, you have quite the delema there. A lot of useful sudjestions there and I too like the the drill and fg powder one. But, if you cant move it take a little time and as the mud and dirt dry bit by bit knock off and remove what you can. Preasure wash and let dry then repeat untill you are down to the stump. Then you will be able to decorate it or with your chain saw remove fire sise pieces. Patience and persistance will remove it.
Good luck Mr. Felps
