Trace the linkage. Look for a problem.

I have a 2004 CK30hst with the same knob. Open the hood and you'll see where the cable for the knob runs to the fuel shut off lever on the injection pump. This will be on the right side toward the front of the engine. The electric shut off solenoid will be just in front of where this cable connects. It must be caught on something there or maybe the cable froze. The cable isn't anything more than what you'd find on a lawn mower throttle. A steel wire in a wire spring like tube covered in black plastic. Once you take a look, you'll see the setup is pretty simple and you should be able to figure out the problem.

Thank you I wish I would have thought of that myself. Before I did anything I wanted to get some opinions from the Kioti community. Thanks for your response Spyderlk......

I don't believe that the shut off soleniod is the problem. In our years of tractors, the power is always off to the soleniod leaving the fuel shut off lever always on for fuel flow. The soleniod is only energized for about five seconds when you turn the key off which cuts off the fuel during these five seconds, stops the engine, and then you should here a click indicating the power is now off again to the solenoid and the fuel shut off lever is back to it's on position to allow fuel flow. I believe around 2008 or 2009, Kioti reversed this and power to the soleniod opens the fuel flow.

At the end of the shut off knob cable, where it connects to the shut off lever linkage, you should see a short (1/2" long) brass rod where the cable goes through a small hole and a set screw in the end of the brass rod that locks the cable into position. The brass rod is not permanently/rigidly attached to the fuel shut off lever. This allows the lever to move with the soleniod as long as the knob is pushed in the dash.

If something doesn't seem right, let us know and we can go from there.

Wish mine had a shut off. Some do, some don't. Should be simple fix.

What you describe was the first stop solenoid (SS) version. Around 2005/6 they went to a second version where continuous SS power was required for the engine to run; as soon as power is removed a spring forced the injection pump rack to the full off position. The third version is similar to the second version except the SS had two coils: when the key is turned to run, a high current latch coil is activated for one second to retract the SS and then a low-current hold coil keeps the solenoid retracted until the key is turned off. In either of these last two versions the SS must be powered for the tractor to run.

In all versions, there is a mechanical linkage that can also stop the engine. In some models you can operate the manual stop remotely with a cable and in others you need to open the hood and push the lever with your hand. Obviously, something can go wrong with this too but that should be visible to the naked eye.

Hi Victor
You are correct the linkage is pretty simple however the tractor will still not start. Seems like its getting fuel at least I smell it. LOL The linkage only moves the stop solenoid about 1/8 – ¼ of an inch. Can I bypass the stop solenoid? In addition my key stop turning the tractor off about a year ago and I had to start using the stop knob. Your help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Glen
