The maintenance schedule for the Kubota RTV 1140 CPX, calls for:

API Service Classification of CD, CE, or CF and it appears SAE 10W30 is the only oil they recommend for the full temperature range.

Looking at the specs of the Kubota 10W-30 fluid, it meets a whole host of performance criteria including:

API CJ-4, CI-4, CI-4 Plus, CH-4, CG-4, and CF-4 as well as SL/SJ/SH/SG, Caterpillar ECF-1, Cummins CES 20081 and 20078 - Am I correct in assuming this isn't a fully synthetic product?

Based on that, I'm curious what each of you are running in your RTV 1140 CPX machines and did you use that product since your machine was new or just after it was out of warranty?

I buy all of my oil for all of my Kubotas from my Kubota dealer and it has Kubota on the bottle even though I'm sure Kubota doesn't make or blend it but I believe they specify the blend to (Valvoline I've heard). I use the weight specified in owners manual which is what my dealer (Barlows) sells me.

Other brands of oil will work too. The C simply stands for oil that is designed for compression ignition engines and S stands for spark ignited. What I can tell you is around here tractor supply sells 10 w30 rotella T engine oil that is designed for Diesel engines. A big company that also sells it is menards. They sell it for 12$ per gallon which is a great deal!! You may be able to order it through your local menards etc or even amazon . Com. Just as well there are different types of engine oils. One Diesel engine oil is not perfect for all engines. I would think since kubota recommends 10 w 30 oil in their machine and nothing else that's what it needs. I have had problems putting 15 w 40 in engines and starving cam bearings etc! I have seen it happen due to the tight tolerances in engines that require 10 w 30. Stick with diesel 10 w 30 and you should be ok

thanks for the info guys.....I'm definitely not looking to save a buck, but to find the optimal oil for my future rig.....I'm still checking, but if Kubota has a full synthetic 10W30, I'm all over it.....

Also, my dealer just confirmed (3 minutes ago) all 2014 RTV's come from the factory standard with 100% SuperUDT2 Fluid.

excellent way too look at it! Sounds like you have made the perfect choice for your machine to run in any weather

I run Mobil 5W40 in all my diesels, it makes it easy to keep one oil around and my RTV seems to like it on cold mornings.

I run Mobile 1 full synthetic for diesel engines in both my RTV and my tractor...it covers all the required criteria. Just be sure it's the oil for DIESEL engines, there is similar for gasoline engines. I don't recall the exact weight range at the moment. I started with the first oil change. I run full synthetic engine oil in all my cars and trucks and ranch vehicles.

Threads like this are highly beneficial for maintenance enthusiasts like myself; thanks everyone.

When I went through my "Dantes" maintenance certification(s) in the early 80's, there was only a few oil-facts on the learning agendas; harder to learn and keep up now. Welcome to DANTES Home Page

All the codes, ratings, and other values on the lubes are very important for extending the life of equipment.

UN-biased "stand-alone" documents on lubes are hard to find/keep; here is one

I only use Kubota oil...Mainly because I'm at the dealer anyway buying the filters..A few more bucks but one stop shopping and I'm 100% positive I have what belongs in it. I have $40k tied up in my 2 machines, a $3 or $4 increase in OEM oil price isn't a show stopper for me...I hold this true for HST fluid as well..Not going to risk anything but SUDT/SUDT2...Painfully expensive, yes, but cheaper than a hydro failure if you guess wrong...Just my opinion.
