That happens, too. Check out the '04 and later VW TDI oil requirements.

I don't understand Kubota doing that when, unless I miss my guess, their oil specification in the manual is probably two or three API designations behind what is currently available.

I have a L3000DT and have been using Chevron Delo 400 10w-30. i buy it by the case at a local petro distributor.
no complaints but i thought of changing to rotella 15w40. My manual says to use 10w-30 but kubota said 15w -40 wouldnt void any warranty.

Kubota brand oil is packaged by Valvoline. That was told to me by my Kubota dealer. Some of y'all must have some ruthless dealers to contend with. Threatenin' to void warranties and stuff. My dealer told my "use whatever RATED oil you want.....We'll stand behind our product."
I plan on using Amsoil Heavy duty diesel/Marine.
Oh, my dealer also told me there is no need to change the transdraulic fluid at 50 hours either. He said replacing the filter and topping off was sufficient. I then asked "what about warranty??" He said........you guessed it....."we'll stand behind our product"

You know that sounds good enough to just change the hyd filter and top off but I have bought the super udt so I will change it. I don't know if it had break in oil or something in it or not. For the motor I want Delvac Mobile Snt. I'm not sure about your model but on my BX you need to drain the hydro fluid to clean the hydro return line screen. I cleaned mine when the hydro was empty. So unless you have some way of filtering the UDT before you put it back in you have to replace it any way.

Well the hours have now gotten to 51 and the little wrench has lighted up so I must now get to work on the 50 hr service. I got started this afternoon with a trip to Advanced Auto, I bought the Rotella Syentic (hope that's spelled right) and all they carry is 5 w 40. I really wanted 10 w 30 like the manual suggests. I don't want to open the worm can, but will this void my warrenty? I really wanted the syn oil because I deliver mail for a living and I use it in my vehicle with out anyproblems. And mail delivery is very tough conditions for an engine, heat, stop and go, idling and the whole bit. I thank you all for your comments on this the last week and they were all taken into consideration when I decided on this oil. As I stated ealier I did not want Kubato Oil because I did not know who makes it for them or if they are consistant with the one who makes it for them. Some Oils I have had bad luck with, Havoline for one and I want to be sure and not use it...........Wish me Luck on this new to me task. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif I live in North Mississippi so the 5 w 40 should be good for my climate..teddydo

So the oil you bought is SAE 5W-40, and what's the API rating on it? If it's rated for diesels, I think it would be alright, although I always used 15W-40 non-synthetic. 10W-30 is almost, if not completely, obsolete in the diesel rated oils.

Mr. Bird it is good to hear from you in my querry. It is rated for disels but I think I saw a CF on the jugs. Again thanks teddy

CF is still a current rating, and should be good, but they've come out since with supposedly better oils according to American Petroleum Institute. Scroll down to the middle of the page and click on "API Service Category Chart" for a .pdf description of the ratings.
